Bob mckenzie (tsn) draft ranking)

Rajala's eye level is higher than Tatar's if we look at the logo behind them, yet, he is listed at two inches shorter.

That is Pejorative Slured.

...Or the pictures were not taken the same distance away or from the same angle, making it impossible to compare height between the two players.

Or one guy is slouching and the other guy is sitting as straight as he can.

Try it in your chair right now. Slouch a little, then sit up as straight as you can. At least several inches difference between those two.

Using the background to try and gauge their heights is absolutely ridiculous. How anyone could think that is more accurate than measurements taken at the combine for example is beyond me.

The pictures weren't taken from the same distance but they were certainly taken from the same angle.

This draft is possibly the best ever. No, this draft is THE best ever. When you got 49 better players than a guy who scored in his last 3 international tournaments almost 3 points per game (and also 39 shutouts in the last season combined!)..wow, that is one hell of a draft... :sarcasm:

But seriously, what if a Canadian player scored those 19 points in U-18 WC.. Where he would be in the rankings?
His size and perimeter playing style keep him that far down. If he was Canadian, scouts would have seen him play North American style games, and could see if his skills would translate.

The knock on him is he plays on the outside and isnt willing to get his nose dirty, and until that is seen in Major Juinor or minor pro the jury will still be out.

Patrick Kane went first his draft year and is slight, but he proved himself in a league that continually puts out top talent. He dominated.

Rajala racked up a lot of points against lesser competion at the U-18, he did well against Canada, but you have to take a lot of those stats with a grain of salt.

NOthing against Finland, but their track record hasnt been too good over the last few years, and there are better players who look like they can play a NA style game over Rajala.
Tavares to Dale Hawerchuk is new to me.
New, but isnt it good.

Thats why I like Bob Mackenzie so much. Tavares can score like Bossy, but isnt similar.

Thinking back, the Hawerchuck comparison is probably the best I have seen.

I also like the Ellis comparisson.
yep his skating is really good but he's CLEARLY not the next Jay-BO
While I dont think Depres will ever amass more than 40 points, J-Bo is a consistent 40 point getter. He is good, but he is still a step below the great defensman in the league, offensively anyway.

the depres comparison comes down to size - they are almost the same size right now, I think Depres might bulk up a bit more by the time he makes the NHL, but his skating is very good for a bigger player.
theres no freaking way kyle clifford is going at 55. try 155

Same was said of a Vancouver Giant who was taken 50th in 2006 after a 19 point season - Milan Lucic.

Clifford isnt high on my list as I havent watched much of him, but I dont think its out of the realm of possibility that a team covets a player like him in the late 2nd or early 3rd.

Watch where Kyle Clifford goes. I have heard from a few realiable sources he COULD slip into the 1st rd. More likely a 2nd/3rd rd though. I know one team is extremly high on him and have him labbeled as the next Milan Lucic. Apparently this kid a MONSTER in the gym and it translates on the ice. He is impossible to get the puck off in the corner and off the cycle.

He was at the Habs combine, just letting you guys know.

Are you a proffesional scout? I don't know much about the guy, but for my money I'll go with the consensus of 10 pro scouts over a feelow armchair scout.

EDIT: So my junior team is getting Morin, wanted to know who he plays like...Ray Sheppard? Whoe the hell is Ray Sheppard?

MSP is the most overrated prospect on these boards. Dont get me wrong he could end up a stud but he seems like a very risky pick and could end up like Afinoganov. All flash no finish (pun not intended)

MSP's descriptions at times sound like he's a slightly bigger Jani Rita. I've only seen him once or twice so I'm not really weighing in on the matter with my own opinion but some of the things mentioned about him (elite speed, potential lack of finish) sound eerily similar to Rita.

That said, the one game I watched him closely I did like him and I do think he'll be better than Rita. But I'd take at least 7 guys in this draft over him.

That is my worry as an Oiler fan if he falls to us at 10. IMO he could be something special or a Rita clone, physically mature at 18 with minimal upside. That said if he's there at 10 he would seem like the consensus pick for us IMHO.
