That was a fortunate ending but in no way was that one of the Blues' best games. Five Goal Ville did everything he could to slide out of the way of the OT winner but Bortuzzo and Bozak weren't ready to be done. Nobody is cocky, the Blues capitalized on a turtle decision and their goaltender out beshat ours.

We had one of the worst Blues games in the history of the team immediately followed by one of the best... crazy roller coaster ride.

People are getting too cocky though... this series is far from over. The Blues are still in a tough spot. I get the doom and gloom from the Avs fans perspective... I remember what it was like to think my franchise was hexed... but there are two more games to go. Anything can happen.
blues have a uphill climb but they started the journey up last night. Wins like this are momentum boosters and fact that the next game is at home is perfect because if a G7 occurs, this is the one time I want it on the road. That crowd and team will be full of them waiting for a "oh no" moment and the air to be let out of that arena FAST.

if they get legit goaltending and the top 9 produces, they win this series even if MacChoken is able to produce. All the pressure is on colorado and the longer we linger the higher is rises. we all know how well they handle pressure. That team is a choker and even if they advance they are chokers who only would have advanced because they gooned up on our goalie. Hopefully that won't happen.

but i could care less TBH. got cup in 2019 and team is playing hard through lots of adversity. injuries, dirty plays, people calling coaches and the city racist for whatever reason. seems like poetic justice to watch the avs choke another series away after total crap they have engaged in and enabled on their team.

they wont give chuckie a start now so doesnt matter to me what happen anymore aslong as Blues give max effort and stop worrying about getting even with Kadri, which seems to be what they did now. Hes a totally worthless player if you ignore him and let him "bleed out". More you engage with him, more he feeds off it. Ignore him and let him go -3 every night. Hopefully 2 more wins for us occur, then you can talk massive amount of shit about him and watch him cry. I wouldn't even shake his hand if we won, dirty lying scumbag.

I don't see anyone getting cocky. Blues fans know better. I see a confident fan base backing a confident team that no longer carries the mindset of waiting for impending doom after breaking a 52 year curse.

holy christ husso was out of position on that bortuzzo save
Rewatching it on the slow motion video the Blues twitter posted, you can see it deflects off Bortuzzo's stick down to his body. I'm not going to bother calculating the dimensions to see if he was in position or not but I think it looks worse than it does because the deflection is hard to see.

Edit: I screenshotted the moment you can see the deflection. Puck is right below the Note on Husso to the right of his blocker.

Exactly. They could come out on Friday and blow us out.

I'm...cautiously optimistic? Like, that was the game 5 from narrative hell right? How many sportswriters were holding back a half chubb thanks to the story writing itself? Mac finally goes off with a hat-trick, including one of the most ridiculous playoff goals of all time, to finally break the 2nd round wall for the Avs. He's such a leader, blah blah blah, slobber slobber slobber, and now the Avs get to feast on the garbage goaltending of Calgary or Edmonton on their way to the matchup everyone was oh-so-smart to choose at the beginning of the season, Tampa/Colorado.

To me, that was their knockout punch. We survived it somehow, someway. We might have been dangling on the ropes for the last couple of seconds of the round, but we got back to the corner. Do they have another one? Can we withstand another one? Do WE have any punches left?

All I do know is that if we somehow win game 6, which is no small feat, I'm betting the house on us winning the series.

It’s been 23 years since a Blues team has won a series after going down 3-1.

Which brings me to another team just down the street east of Enterprise. It’s hard to believe that a franchise as decorated as the Cardinals have NEVER done this, but they’re the only ones in MLB history to piss it away 4 times.

Historical perspective on the situation, Blues edition.

After winning Game 5 on the road to make it 2-3, we've experienced the Blues:
– losing G6. 1998 lost at home 6-1 in G6 to Detroit.
– winning G6 and G7. 1999 won three straight against the Tkachuk Coyotes

[Blues have won Game 5 at home to make it 2-3 four times. 1981 against NYR, 1991 against Detroit, 2000 against San Jose and in 2017 against Nashville.]

It's interesting to me that all five of the five highest regulation wins teams in Blues history (00, 81, 91, 98, 22) won Game 5 to pull a series back to 2-3 at some point. All but San Jose in the second round.

Husso had 1 great, 1 decent, 2 poor performances in that series. I would have liked to have seen this series played with the guy putting up a Conn resume before he was trucked by coincidentally the same guy who openly plays to injure people. I don't know what best on best looks like beyond two+ games. Blues were off to a rocking start in Game 3 and leading when it happened. Blues didn't do enough to respond but I'm not going to forget that they needed to do it without erasing a huge huge advantage in this series via injury. Binnington was >>>> Kuemper in this series. Colorado is a major rivalry now.

I just want to lay out a few thoughts.

1. Kadri may not have intended to hurt Binnington but he didn't care if he did and he didn't attempt to avoid it. That was their game plan.
2. It's not a coincidence that without Binnington the Avalanche took it to us every game since on control and zone time. That was why they wanted to go after Binnington.
3. Parayko made mistakes in game 6 but what can you expect when we're missing a puck moving LD and the goalie doesn't play the puck. Out D was hemmed in the entire night and have been for 3 games straight.
4. I'm not really upset because I assumed a series loss as soon as Binny was injured. I just wish the people who spent the whole season shitting on him would keep their f***ing mouths shut next time they want to discuss goalies which it's fairly obvious the majority have no clue about.

I’ll be more than willing to fly to STL from the east coast and help pack Patf***o and Husso’s bags.

I don’t see either of these teams going anywhere next year based on who is under contract for 2022-23. Offseason autopsy and decision making should be dedicated to beating these guys. Fully expect to see a hockey trade or two this off-season to address the blueline.
