Goalie mentally soft. Team physically soft

A formula for playoff success..........this ain't.
I know he could not be re-signed because of his age, but a guy like Brendan Dillon would not let us get pushed around.
Other than Lowry we don’t have any guys who can rough other players up.
The Blues know this.

My complaint as well.
This team needs players who are ready to mix it up physically and aren’t afraid to send a message.
Geez we get pushed around a lot.
I agree and I'm thinking that's why Chevy got Tanev and Schenn. Schenn hasn't been very good unfortunately but maybe he gets a little better in the next round. Helly has to be way better first and foremost though ,that's problem number 1 right now.

Man i have also had enough of Appleton, what a dummy, Barron's goal was a thing of beauty and early enough that maybe could have swung momentum our way. Appleton goes into the corner with a dozen eggs and comes out the corner with 13 . And when he has the puck you can just hear him saying to the other team excuse me , oh I'm sorry excuse me, oh excuse me again before shooting into the corner.

New skates might be the answer........or not.

This series is record setting in the number of hit thrown through 6 games. This is by far the most physical series of any in the first round. We have as many hits as them and are tied 3-3 in games. You can say they aren’t playing great at times, say the goalie can’t stop a beach ball and is mentally weak, but they haven’t backed down physically at all.

I'd like to see a someone else draw in for Apples but the org seems to love him for whatever reason. Would be nice if we could throw Chibs or Lambert in there to change things up a bit but not sure if they would be ready for a series this physical.

It’s frustrating but I think this team pulls it out.
It’s a complete team thing, we get so used to Helle bailing us out and when it doesn’t happen it’s so noticeable.
Go Jets go.

I'm not happy obviously but this is why winning the President's trophy is important. Home ice advantage especially for game 7's all through the playoffs. And i think we win tomorrow.

I'm starting to think that winning the Pres isn't a curse it just means you emptied your tank in the regular season and might be running out of gas in the playoffs. Is it any coincidence that none of our players look to have found an extra gear. You see players on other teams upping their game, playing to the moments and it just looks like the Jets are running on vapors. It seems like the Cats and Bolts learned this lesson already and have put a lot less stock into trying in the regular season. Do enough that you can get into the playoffs and then ramp it up once you're there.

I don't know, i think we have played very well at home in the playoffs it's the road that's giving us issues.

I turned off the game after it was 3-1. Was hoping to awake to a miraculous comeback to no avail.:( Here's hoping the home crowd will propel the Jets to victory in game 7. Confidence level right now: 3 out of 10.

Hey look at that, the sun came up this morning.

So this is what it feels like to be in a 7 game series, I had kind of forgotten. Ok so we have been shit kicked 3 times in a row in St Louis and that has been embarrassing and there is lots of red meat for the doubters. Feels like this thread has covered off all those concerns and then some.

The upside is I get to take one of my kids to a game 7 in Winnipeg. Sure that game could go either way, if we lose I think there will be 5 months for the haters to vent………The upside is if we win it will be a moment I will never forget.

This season has been all about the journey and this completely bipolar match up with the Blues is part of that painful and joyous journey.

I look forward to the game tomorrow night. We lose as most seem to expect then so be it. If we win then it starts a new chapter in this season to remember. I am quite prepared for either outcome.

Anyone who thinks the Jets can't win without Scheifele has to remember he only played a period, 8 minutes in game 5 in the exact same scenario that faces them on Sunday. They got beat badly the game before and came out and played a great game and won. The only difference is that it's an elimination game and it's time for the Jets to take out the trash.

I'll pile on as a Debbie Downer, here.

Of course I'll cheer on the boys and hope they win game seven, but logically, for what?

If we can't get even average goaltending against and average offense, what shot will we have against a team like Colorado, Vegas or Edmonton?

The bigger concern I have is we have this pumpkin signed for 7 more years.

Oh well, I have cruises booked over the next couple of months, I guess I won't have to worry about missing games.
My fear all this year was this team was not built for the playoffs
They realistically have no chance vs the next team. I just see one team outworking another to create better scoring chances not to mention the defence is taking a pounding.

I read a lot of sympathetic talk here about how we can fix the greatest goaltender in the game like we are walking on egg shells but I can't help thinking if Comrie or Broissoit had played this series and put up those numbers you would run have them out of town on a rail.
Neither of them has won a Vezina before, never mind the two (and soon to be three) that Helle has, that’s why he’s getting the net again Sunday. Not saying he deserves it, but I understand it.

They don’t need to back down physically, when they are world class at backing down mentally.

Nah you have to with Helle... he has earned that. Can't switch horses at this point.
He's earned it? His has the lowest save percentage in playoff history for the last 3 years. He's at .72 or something on the road.

He hasn't earned anything. If Comrie played to his average, we would have won the series already.

If any other goalie played like helle, any and every team would play their backup.

Chevy was no shrinking violet on the ice, it's weird that as a GM his has assembled a relatively soft group of guys, rarely do they finish checks, offer no resistance to being run at. Simple put this group does not want to play in the dirty areas. Even our supposed tough guys have done nothing all series to any of the Blues better players except 1 hit by Stanley, while the Blues target Joshua and put out Scheifele.

We're actually out playing the Blues overall, chances, possession etc. But helle.

But it is a classic catch 22, as someone mentioned. Reminds me of Luongo on the Canucks.

A confident coach plays Comrie, because helle has zero confidence.

Stanley and Schenn are affecting our other D who have to double shift because they aren't serviceable

Yup. I'm all for playing a finesse game too, but having Stan and Schenn out there removes more skilled guys, and 5 and 64 aren't playing tough anyway.
Just go all skill. Miller and Fluery are faster and more skilled.
Schenn and Stan have gotten us 80% of our penalties too.

When I think back on the game and try to think of a player who stood out, I see Barron. That’s about it.

The D were afraid to get back and get the puck out quickly, the forwards passed the puck around the perimeter in the o zone. No one had any sort of aggression. It’s the playoffs, it’s hard, you ramp it up or you’re out.

I saw pretty much no one driving the net or fighting off checks. No push back, no urgency, no fight.

I feel like bowness last year. This team doesn’t seem to have the fortitude to dig deep and get their hands dirty.
Like I said earlier, watch the last period of Edmonton and LA and tell me the Jets were fighting even half as hard.

Neither have started skating yet. Both are still injured so we don't even have that option.
