Post-Game Talk: Blues 5 - Jets 2 Series tied at 3

The craziest part about all this is that we can still win the series. We're yet to lose at home

Imagine being the Blues and you have to go to a 7th game even though the goalie you're playing against is posting an .815 save percentage

That's f***ing embarrassing
Imagine being the PT winning tram and losing in round one. Neither is a great option

We're actually out playing the Blues overall, chances, possession etc. But helle.

But it is a classic catch 22, as someone mentioned. Reminds me of Luongo on the Canucks.

A confident coach plays Comrie, because helle has zero confidence.

Stanley and Schenn are affecting our other D who have to double shift because they aren't serviceable
You're bang on with your comment about the 3rd D pairing and the spill over to the other four. IMO, its seriously impacting their play.

While I still maintain Helle is easily the biggest issue there are other issues.

The next on my list is our third pairing. Yeah I know Arniel wants the toughness but the pairing together is a massive liability. They can't keep up, they can't move the puck. They also can't stay out of the box. What good are they when the refs have called the series in a way that they can't do what they are supposed to do.

How is the Bandwagon looking?

I can’t explain Hellsboi! He seems to be a bit of a head case. The team isn’t helping but boy oh boy…

Hellebuyck has been so extraordinarily bad. Need to hold him to the supposed MVP standard that McDavid, Matthews etc would if they played this terrible. Team is tired, hurt... All teams play 82, they're all ailing at this point of the year.

Helle is just brutal in the playoffs, really believed this year would be different...i guess it still can be if they win.

The Jets at home atleast have smothered STL defensively for the Sieve only allowing 17, 22 and 19 shots. Still has an 0.879 at home but low SOG volume it's only 2ish GA/gp.

The Blues have been playing alright. There's a 20 point standing gap between the two teams, but the Jets clearly stoop to their level. Play like this against a top 5-10 team, and they'll be run out of town (like last year)

Home team has won every game...

Like I said earlier, watch the last period of Edmonton and LA and tell me the Jets were fighting even half as hard.
Agreed. But we look physically drained from the physical play. And that dumb penalty from Stan took wind out of the sails. But I agree it didn't look like 100%

Our boat is anchored to Helle for better or worse until we draft his succesor. With that being said we are still far to light on the wings and our D get pushed around way to much. We really need a 2C, some bigger wingers and some bigger solid two way D for next year or its gonna be the same song and dance. We have some promising young kids and some of them might be able to step in next year but most are a couple years away from making an impact if they pan out. We really need to bring in some fresh bodies this offseason.
Unless the team did something radical and swapped Helle for a young up and coming goalie.

I know it will never happen because this org is loyal to a fault, but if Helle is just a regular season goalie maybe he can help one of the teams on the cusp of playoffs get over the hump and we can get a guy who might be able to do more than study the position more than any other person in the world, like ever.

I won't say who that comment sounded like to me, and I'm sure it was just his dry humor, but read the f***ing room.

Other than Appleton slashing Schenn did any Jet even try to hit the player who took out your #1 center?
JoMo had to fight your #1 D man could have got injuried on that play Faulk had him facedown on the ice.
Your star players are getting beaten to a pulp and there’s no push back?
I’m sick of the refs too. Stanley has a few words for a Blues player and get 2 mins and a misconduct even Garrett was laughing what are they going to call that?

So you want to trade the top goalie in the league so the team missing the playoffs is your solution?
How about getting tough and stronger D men who don’t get pushed around. Even Monty said we owned the front of the net.
In the 3 losses the Jets have scored 2 and 1 and 2 goals. If the Blues score only that many goals for Binnington … he has ZERO wins.
This team is soft and has no push back but blame Helle right?
Did you happen to see Helle knock down the Blue player in front of his crease?
Something I did not see the Jets D men do?
How many scrambles were in Helle’s crease … I didn't see any Blues player getting knocked down. I did see Perfetti hitting the ice after scoring thou.
Big boy hockey something the Jets don’t play in the playoffs.

He really does seem like a head case, remember last season when he came out saying it was some of his best work LOL, and now he is going on about how he has a degree in goaltenderology and shit and studies it more than anyone ROFL.

Not sure the dude is all there upstairs tbh.

How are we missing the playoffs?

Do you seriously think the only reason we made the playoffs this year was Hellebuyck? We had the best defensive metrics and won the presidents trophy ffs.

You also don't think the up and coming goalie that we swap for couldn't give us reliable enough goaltending to make the playoffs?

I'm not saying the team is playing well enough, obviously that is not the case, however you are underestimating how a poor goalie affects the teams psyche and performance.

Again you go back to the screens and traffic. Yet people have disproven your assertion that there are more screens for Helle in the playoffs with actual counting stats.

I guess Hellebuyck is the first goalie in history that's had to deal with traffic and screens in the playoffs, poor guy.
