I know I was giving ya shit earlier, but the new NCAA game is awesome. Definitely the game of summer for me.

You two are making me consider buying a PS5 solely for this game. I haven't bought a game system in probably 20 years. I played the hell out of NCAA Football though.

I’ve had my PS5 for about 18 months now, and I’m glad I made the decision to buy one.

There were some bugs at first with NCAA, but they’re seemingly fixed now. If you do get one you missed that part thankfully lol, but I do enjoy this game more than Madden. I will have to eventually get that though so I can play with Caleb Williams on the Bears.

Damn straight! But what I'm thinking is that I get the next year's Madden (once the Rams beat the Chiefs in the Super Bowl that should definitely happen) and trade a random receiver for Luther Burden III, since I want him, and because it's obvious the Rams won't be in a position to draft him, haha.

Then the Rams will have Matthew Stafford (if he hasn't retired after this year; that's what I'm most concerned about), Cooper Kupp, Puka Nacua, Kyren Williams, Blake Corum (third round running back), Jordan Whittington (the sixth -round receiver draft crush of mine who is seriously impressing in camp and in the preseason), and Luther Burden III. I'll see how our tight ends are doing (Colby Parkinson and Davis Allen, maybe Tyler Higbee if he's not cut), see how the defense does next year.

2025 is supposedly having a smorgasbord of awesome games, and that's what I'm waiting for (along with MLB: The Show (where you can finally play as a badass woman player like I've always wanted!) But I would probably buy this NCAA game for the nostalgia and hope it's as good to me as it is to y'all.

If you can, I would suggest to wait until November when the sales start. The ps5 and Xbox Series X/S are midlife and should start having some decent discounts this year.

I’m against trading Dvorsky, Snuggerud, or Stenberg for a young dman.

Obviously, everything has to go to plan, but I like a future D-Core including Parayko, Lindstein, Broberg, Jiricek, and Kessel.

I haven’t looked into anything regarding the next draft, but I hope we can get a solid offensive defenseman with our 1st round pick.

I'm not expecting Buchinger to go off this season in the AHL, but I wouldn't be surprised by 40ish points. Looking at the defenseman projected to be on Springfield him and Samuel Johannesson seem to be the two with the highest offensive skill so I'm expecting those two to be the PPQBs for the team. And, iirc, one of the Springfield coaches is Buchinger's coach from Juniors as well.

I’m pleased with the state of the team currently, and how this offseason went. I’m excited for this season and for the next 10 after that again. I see the vision coming together and it feels like things may have just been accelerated in a big way by poaching the Edmonton guys.

As someone who has been critical of Armstrong in the past, I do appreciate how hard he works and how aggressive he is. I don’t always agree with all his moves, but I much prefer a GM that goes out there and takes risks, as opposed to one that is too conservative. Army’s effort to move Krug in a deal for Sanheim last year, and then the offer sheet to Broberg now, shows that he identified the need to get a Bouwmeester-like guy on the left side again and he was going to keep trying until it happened. And that’s awesome that he wasn’t going to settle. I’m happy with how it worked out and am excited to see if Broberg can fill that role.

This is including the guys we drafted (Dvorsky, Stenberg, Lindstein, Jiricek) as well as recent 1st rounders we acquired (Dean, Holloway, Broberg). I’m now convinced that our re-tool is going to be pretty quick. The amount of young talent we are stockpiling in our organization is thrilling.

It appears that Armstrong is going to set up Steen to be in a very good spot when he takes over in a couple years. As it stands now, we might just have our entire future “core” in place.

Love your post, but you're missing another young first round pick we signed: Pierre-Olivier Joseph (#23 overall, 2017). However, I totally, absolutely, definitely, certainly, completely (and let's just add in every other adjective meaning something similar to the last five, for that matter) agree on everything else - and that's not even mentioning the other players who aren't first rounders who could find their way on the team (Pekarcik and Fischer - thank fate there's only one Fischer in our prospect pool now; it got so confusing at times - being the main ones that I think are going to pan out in a big way) and manage to carve out solid careers or players we haven't even mentioned finding a roster spot.

Couldn't agree more with every word. It's incredible how the signing of these two firsts round (ready to contribute) players have sped up the retooling process. I'm really looking forward to the next few seasons of watching these kids come in and establish themselves. Lastly the stones of the ownership group must be acknowledged. To back an audacious restoration plan and to allow funding when there has clearly been a performance dip the past 2 yrs, speaks volumes. Players see a committed ownership group and want to be here.

As an aside this dialogue of Broberg/Holloway missing out on a SCF is alot. I see their team, clearly top heavy, v strong fwds and 1 injury away from defensive catastrophe. Skinner better than Binner/Hofer, not even close. Plenty in the West will have some v strong motivations to beat Oil. Not to mention the east.

It is kind of amusing to see Oiler fans act as if Bro/Holloway are giving up a near certain Stanley Cup by signing these offer sheets (usually immediately followed by trashing the Blues). While the Oilers will likely be in the mix this year again due to their high end talent, there are at least 6-8 other teams that are on the same level. So even if they are a legit Cup contender, their odds are +/- 15% to actually win it all at best. That's a big gamble to take with millions of dollars on the line.
