The Blues have low key really lit it up with their drafting the last few years. Some of the mid-round picks have turned into legit prospects, and their value picks have all stayed on track or risen. I know there are a handful of guys who will play NHL games from our prospect pool that most of us don't know much about yet, being distracted by the 1st rounders.

Sometimes with rosters you should take it with a grain of salt, some of it is just selecting the few NHL caliber prospects from lesser nations. The Canadian equivalent of some of these guys do not make Canada. Now, we've still done well, but it's not like our group has a ton of high-end talent.

Hey guess what everybody? That Sweden Czech Blues prospect scrimmage game? Guess when it's scheduled? The exact moment of the Winter Classic game, cool. lol

So we aren’t going to be a 10 year dynasty like I thought?

We have a good prospects pool but he makes a good point. We have 6 guys concentrated on the Czech and Slovak teams. They’re good but most wouldn’t get a consideration for Team Canada. Quinton Burns is about the same level of them and wasn’t much of a consideration.

I was just teasing. Yeah, he’s definitely correct

Is this the best the Blues pipeline has ever been? I can't ever remember our system being this stacked.

In terms of Hype; the era with EJ/Pietrangelo/Oshie definitely had more press behind them(though a lot of that was a PR campaign by Dave Checkett's), but I'm not sure they were actually more talented. We'll have to wait and see.

In terms of talent; there was a stretch in the mid 80's where we had Gilmour, Ronning, Emerson, Jocelyn Lemieux, Guy Hebert, Rod Brind'Amour, Bret Hedican, Tony Twist, Brian Benning, Tony Hrkac, Robert Dirk, Herb Raglan and Glen Featherstone(those are just the ones who played 300+ games; there were several others that made the League such as Pat Jablonski, Rob Nordmark, Steve Tuttle and Tom Tilley) in the system at the same time.
The current kids are going to have their work cut out for them to match that group, especially the headliners(Gilmour, Brind'Amour, Hedican, Hebert, Ronning and the Legend of Legends, Tony Twist). Again; we'll have to wait and see with them.

Dvorsky or Snuggerud basically have to be all-stars to compete with some of those previous groups. Do think it's in the range of possibilities though.

Has anybody thats been following the Thunderbirds know how Alexandrov has looked this year? He has 13 points in 15 games. I think he’s still injured but was curious if he could be a 3c option this year for the Blues? @PerryTurnbullfan any insight would be greatly appreciated!
I don’t think so. Played lots of wing. Classic AAAA player. Doesn’t skate well enough in my opinion. No standout tool.

This is maybe my worst take of all time.

I’m super patient with prospects and I don’t particularly need any of them to be rushed.

But if we’re going to give Dvorsky 9 games this season.

We should do it during the timeframe where the winter classic is one of the games.

Give the kid a reward for the work he has put in and give the event some extra promotion.

It’s still going to be a lot more work for Dvorsky the coming years and I think that expectation can be communicated. At the same time, Chicago will have some highly motivated youth in their lineup (Nazar). Why not meet them with some of our own.

If the 9 games are coming one way or another, seems like a nice thing to do. You’d probably benefit more from what you see from him in this game than some early spring matchup against a bottom feeder.

Plus, maybe if you call him up we can lose 3-2 instead of 3-1 and that’s 2 times the amount of goals we usually score so we’ll all be happy.

The WJC is a bit of a problem with that plan. I’m sure he’d rather play in the NHL vs the WJC, but it just won’t happen

You mean the gimmick game featuring two of the ten-worst teams in the league? Forgive me if I’m not glued to the set the entire time that’s going on.
It is more interesting to me being in Wrigley Field than anything. I am sure that's the only time I'll ever see the Blues play in Wrigley Field. The Hawks may be terrible but they are the archrivals,

Blues I no longer believe are one of the ten worst teams. They didn't get results the last two nights but they have stopped being below average and are now purely average.

It's inconvenient timing

9 games is for kids in junior, not kids playing professional hockey. The point was so that their first season of their ELC wouldn't start. But Dvorsky is in the AHL. He is playing professional hockey. His contract has started.

The 9 games thing is antiquated anyway, since GMs figured out it can give the players more leverage by being one year more experienced when their next contract comes up. now GMs want the second contract sooner rather than later for guys they suspect they will have to pay a lot

Dvo's contract can still slide if he plays 9 or less games. Only difference from if he was playing in the Juniors is he can be called up from the AHL.

Tho I'm pretty positive he's going to exceed those 9 games.

Hadn’t realized or identified the early start concept (for the upper tier guys). That makes way too much sense. Kinda interesting all the years contracts were slid - it may have always been in the players, and not the team’s, best interest when it happened.
