Just turned on the Sarnia game. Fischer took off from the D-zone with the puck carrier, drove to the net and was feathered a pass which he tucked in past the keeper! Nice goal by the D-man. I'll keep an eye on Tweeter to see if I can find a highlight.

He's definitely got some untapped offensive potential.

Sarnia blew a 4-3 lead with 0.4 seconds left in the game. During a 5 second span in OT Fischer rocked Zayne Parekh into the boards then bodied the Saginaw forward to the ice. He was bullying them out there. He had a chance at an open net to win the game but the puck bounced over his stick. Saginaw won 5-4 in the shootout.

Elsewhere, Quinton Burns had two assists in Kingston's 9-0 win over North Bay.

Colin Ralph and the St. Cloud State Huskies open their season against Jimmy Snuggerud and the Minnesota Golden Gophers.

Lol I like Parekh but so glad our boy rocked him and smacked around his teammates. L.Fisch has serious Bobby B energy outside of the offensive contributions he makes which makes him quite the interesting prospect. If you're trying to camp out anywhere near the crease you will be getting several extra crosschecks.

WHL notes from Friday:

- Jakob Stancl highlighted the night for Blues prospects with a hat trick in a loss to William McIsaac's Spokane Chiefs. McIsaac is +5 in 3 games since joining Kelowna.

- Prince Albert Raiders were trailing 2-0 going into the 3rd. Tomas Mrsic took matters into his own hands scoring two. They'd go on to lose in OT. That's 3 goals and 1 assist in 3 games for Mrsic to start his season.

I caught some of the second period in this one but missed the third when he scored his goals. Mrsic was all over the place in the 2nd. Clearly the best player on the ice for Prince Albert. Good to see him playing well without a supporting cast like he had at Medicine Hat.

- Adam Jecho tallied an assist in the Edmonton Oil King's 3-1 loss tonight. He has a goal and an assist, +2 in two games.

I've never heard of hockey teams having multiple captains like that but I know it is very common in other college sports
I only follow football but for that it’s normal because there are so many more players on a football roster, so it makes sense to have multiple captains. Especially because you need one for each unit (offense, defense, special teams).

Having 6 captains on a hockey team is just stupid.

Just another example of the "everyone gets a trophy" mentality.
The whole thing is sickening. These Gopher parents are teaching their kids entitlement and get something for nothing.

But this has been happening for decades. Incremental increases in expectations and false sense of justice from generation to generation.

Narcissistic short-sighted “parenting”. “But we’re alums and boosters and we shit rainbows!”

Oh……and……just because you have a cell phone, it doesn’t mean you have a voice.

Korotky with 9 goals, 6 assists in his first 9 MHL games of the year. Know nothing about him, but that’s a pretty solid start for a 7th rounder.

Its a nice start, but take it with a grain of salt. There are very few NHL level prospects in the MHL. MHL is their juniors, but most pro-level 18 year olds are in the pro-minors, the VHL. MHL isn't a great league. Only 4 drafted NHL players have played 5 or more games in the league this year.

Jiricek was involved in more drills with the Blues this morning. He played in a tight 2 on 2 drill. The goals were moved up to each blue line. He moved well in the small area. He scored his 1st goal in that drill and both team benches cheered for him. I've never seen him really play. He seemed to use his stick well to defend and moved his feet well. But his shot from the point (in other drills) has not been impressive. That is in very limited viewing. Does he have a decent shot?

Let's not jump off a ledge or anything.

Looking at the Gophers lineups, they’ve been doing the multiple co-captains for a lot of their history. I think the reason there’s so many is due to Koster’s injury history, but I may be wrong.

His shot is generally regarded as a weakness from what I’ve seen

Pietrangelo didn’t have a very good shot. He’s a great passer and can see lanes before they open, but his shot was usually off-target.

Is the issue with Jiricek power or accuracy?

It also keeps all the parents off your back as an HC lol. “No, Mrs. Snuggerud. Little Jimmy gets to be captain too.”

Hold me back!!

I’m comin Elizabeth! I’m comin!
love the reference!!!

I do think the multiple captain thing is overblown, it is a college thing people aren’t used to because hockey does it differently everywhere else
this was certainly the case at my kids colleges where there were always multiple senior captains and then some younger players mixed in

This is absolutely not true. I and others posted numerous statistical evidence it was fake. His shot was on-net and scored at a rate right in line with other defenders who shot as much as he did. Blues fans got it in their heads he missed the net and so every time he missed the net, it was like "PROOF" and every time he hit the net "it's about time" when their was no evidence he was off-target more than anyone else given where he shot from.

From my limited viewing this camp ... power.
