Are Blues giving Robertsson an honest look? He wasn’t part of the cuts. I know he got banged up a bit last week and is DTD.

Interesting though.
Last report I saw he had an upper body injury, he's still with the club for the same reason Jiricek is.

SHL Game Notes:

Stenberg (Malmo):

I made a Swedish friend who hosts a Malmo Redhawks podcast. He said Stenberg's line didn't generate much offense in the first but he did a great job defensively. Made a couple great defensive plays covering for the center.

- After I flipped the game on in the second Stenberg's line pressures Rogle deep on D, Stenberg jumps on a loose puck and centers it to assist on the goal!

- Stenberg with a nice job spinning away from pressure behind the net to generate a chance in front but Malmo can't bury it. It's 3-3 with 7 minutes left to go and the teams are getting heated in what is Malmo's big rivalry game.

- Stenberg scores the shootout winner beating the goalie five-hole with a wrister!

Final: Malmo 4, Rogle 3 (SO): Much better game for Stenberg today after getting boosted to the first line. Generated multiple chances and tallied an assist and the GWG in the shootout. Solid defensive play as well. Stenberg finishes with 1G, 1A, and 5 SOG.

Lindstein (Brynas):

- This game is knotted at 0-0 in the second. Lindstein joins the rush and gets the puck but the goalie makes a nice save to keep it out of the net. Good to see him jumping up on the play.

- Lindstein gets caught flat-footed and gives up a partial breakaway after his team turns the puck over in the neutral zone. Lindstein got his stick in there enough to prevent the goal but not a great play overall.

Final: Farjestad 2, Rogle 1 (SO): Didn't really get to see much of Lindstein in this one as I had my eyes mostly on the Malmo game. Lindstein finishes with 0G, 0A, 0+/- and 3 SOGs.

In The Athletic, Pronman lists his "Preseason Thoughts and Standouts" and lists "Zachary Bolduc, C" among them:

I’ve never been a big fan of Bolduc’s game the last few years, and I might be eating crow on that one if he keeps up the level of play he’s shown in the Blues camp. I’ve always been impressed by his skating, skill and big-time shot/scoring ability, but had questions on his at-times perimeter play and consistency. That hasn’t looked like much of an issue at all this fall, so it’s possible I overstated that issue and he can be a legit middle-six scoring winger for St. Louis.

I appreciate the job people like Wheeler and Pronman do, but I would point out that the Blues scouting and drafting, especially over the last 5-8 years, has almost always outpaced the "consensus" of the scouting community. When we've been wrong, we've been pretty quick to move on from a pick before it loses value (Bokk is a prime example).

Snuggy at 23, Bolduc at 17, Neighbors at 26, Bokk at 25 (Traded) Thomas 20, and Kostin 31 - which was a second round pick until that year and finally Tage Thompson 26.

That's a pretty darn good track record of 1st round picks, especially in non-premium spots. Tage and Thomas are All-Star caliber players. Bokk and Kostin flamed out, but we moved on from Bokk before it hurt us, and Kostin....well, you can't bat 1.000. Neighbors looks like a good player, well above what he was thought of in his draft class already, and Snuggy has moved up the charts as time has gone on, not down.

I would 100% trust the Blues scouting and development teams over Wheeler and Pronman at the moment, they've earned that trust.

Honest question: is it “normal” in college hockey to have multiple captains like this?

Can’t say I’ve ever seen it before, but I don’t follow NCAA hockey particularly closely (outside Blues prospects anyway).

Just speaking from my knowledge of 3 kids who played sports in college, there were multiple senior captains and then a younger player that was also a captain (this one was either a star, super charismatic or super hard working)

Was too busy with work to catch much of either of Stenberg or Lindstein's games today. Both Malmo and Brynas won their games.

Stenberg was on the first line again today. In the five minutes of Malmo's game I saw, Stenberg had a great shift. He controlled the puck well along the boards in the o-zone and drew a tripping penalty. Malmo scored on the ensuing PP. Stenberg didn't register anything on his stat line this game.

The only shift of Lindstein's I saw he fired a shot from the point which deflected off of an opponent and bounced to one of his Brynas teammates for a scoring chance. No goal. He finished +1 with 1 SOG.

Both teams will play again Saturday and I hope to get a better look.

To my knowledge, no. I dont recall ever seeing a game with more than 1 player with a C on his jersey so I would guess they’ll all share the letters throughout the season.

Either way, good Snuggerud is viewed as a leader and hopefully he has a good (final) season there.

I've never heard of hockey teams having multiple captains like that but I know it is very common in other college sports

It's like grade inflation. Being a captain in junior or college is seemingly becoming more of a brag point. I notice Seattle is doing this too, the preseason on air chatter emphasizes how many captains they have in the junior ranks.

grade inflation subtext ... so if you're NOT a captain do you really have what it takes?

I've always viewed it as the alternate captains in hockey would simply be captains in those sports with multiple captains.
