Prospect Info: Blues 2024-2025 Prospect Thread

  • Xenforo Cloud is doing server maintenance Thurdsay 13th at 9 AM GMT. Downtime is to be expected during the process. Server changes were implemented recently to cope with the traffic surge last week. This seems to be affecting the user login, so please anyone experiencing this, log out and clear the browser cache. We expect to have this issue solved once the maintenance is complete.
  • We are currently aware of "log in/security error" issues that are affecting some users. We apologize and ask for your patience as we try to get these issues fixed.
So a concussion maybe? Hopefully not though. He was absolutely rocked and got a concussion about a year ago in the Extraliga as well.

Hopefully he’s alright and we can get more details in the coming days.

Availability is not one of Jiricek's stronger abilities. He's racking up quite the list of injuries without even nearing the start of his pro career. If he did just suffer another concussion that's a bit worrying. Not saying he's the next Erik Foley, but you can only take so many big hits before your career is ended for you. Hopefully he's feeling better quickly and this setback is minor.

I hope whoever laid the hit is suspended. Hard to tell on the video but it looked like a hit to the head on a player who never got possession of the puck. Just a super dangerous play.

Just to be clear, that was from last season in the Czech professional league not from last night. I believe the player was suspended in that instance.

Which knee did Jiricek tear at the World Juniors? DeFranks just posted the OHL clip of the hit where Jiricek got hurt and it didn’t look like a head injury…looked like the D-man stepped up and caught his right shoulder/knee and Jiricek was shaking his right leg after he got up.

Interesting. That was the knee he injured at the WJC.

It was indeed his right knee that he hurt at the world juniors. Based on how he popped right back up after being hit I doubt he tore it again, but it probably caused him a lot of discomfort. It would be nice if they gave clearer injury updates.

Play where he tore his ACL:

Play that caused his current injury:

Once thing I've noticed with Jiricek is he skates with his head down a lot. That's a dangerous thing to do when you're built the way he is, and someone needs to get ahold of him and fix that part of his game.

Very much agree. He seems to have a lack of spacial awareness and anticipation of what defenders might do when he’s the puck carrier…that’s a theme when I watch his clips. Not trying to s*** on the kid but he has a long ass way to go and the injuries are troubling.

That was a classic knee on knee. Should have been a major. Both times he's gotten hurt in the clips I've seen it's from a player making a dangerous hit on him that shouldn't be allowed. He's not injury prone, he's getting fouled - that's why that shit is illegal.

Last game Toro could have easily blown his knee if that hit had landed 3 inches lower. It's just how the game is.

Right!! Noncontact injuries make you injury prone not have your knees egregious attacked twice.

I do wonder how long they have him stay in Springfield if he keeps up with this scoring pace.

By no means do I want to rush him up here, but there is a chance he’s really knocking on the door in the next few months.
