Apparently Columbus fans have been giving shit to him and his family a lot lately. Some very unnecessary awful things both in person and social media. Some people should really know to differentiate sports and real life. f*** those fans.

Agreed.

I got no issue booing a player at the game if things get bad enough (like #29, which Merzlikins hasn’t gotten nearly that bad yet) or mocking him on an internet message board, obviously.

But I’m also for letting people live their lives and staying away from their personal space like social media or if I see them out somewhere. There’s no need to walk up to some guy and heckle him if you see him in the store or going out to eat. Or sending messages to his personal accounts.

The booing is the furthest I’d go to personally let my grievances out to the player themselves. And even that would take quite some time for me to get that irate about.

I’m starting to get my hopes up here that the postseason is a real possibility.

Underlying stats suggest we’re the best team in the league so far. And it’s not close.

If Vanecek can keep playing acceptably well, we’re going to the playoffs for sure.

Edit: alternatively, that might have been a message to the coach, which led him to tweak the system. It wouldn't surprise me if Brunette and McGill have done some changes to simplify.

They definitely seem to be a bit less scrambly. Maybe they’ve limited how often they swarm?

Absolutely.

The goalie didn’t play much of a factor in this game, but he’s been stopping much more pucks since the preseason, as well as shutouts and winning, and if that wasn’t enough he’s been the far superior goalie since he entered the league.

#29 has done a great job sitting on the bench though.

And once again, one guy is signed for next year while the other guy isn’t and is only given chances based off of play from 2.5 years ago and being drafted close to 7.5 years ago.

Our schedule has been insanely soft but I find it hard to believe that even with a tougher schedule we're not top 5 if not higher metric wise. We controlled play against the Avs at 5v5

tbh if this was like five games i'd be kind of thinking it's a hot streak but honestly it's been 9 games of pretty insane underlying numbers, even in the losses. I cautiously think they're for real. Columbus is also just real real bad.

Yeah we’ve been playing some trash teams, but not even that accounts for how hard we’re working people 5on5.
