Hey, they're the Bombers... what can go wrong?

Meh International REC are a dime a dozen. I'm surprised but not too worried. None of Johnson, Urrutia or Kemp is going to even be on the gameday roster in reality (Denmark, Moore and Kelly are the starting INT REC's on the BB). It's questionable if they would keep a INT REC as a DI (only have 4 DI spots). Bombers will probably run with a DI Returner, 2 backup/ST LB/DB and the last spot will be either extra RB, DE, WR or random).

Chad Johnson managed to make the Alouettes final roster. Be interesting to see what kind of role he can carve out in Montreal with SJ Green, Duron Carter and Brandon London clearly above him on depth chart for international REC.

Also of note, international Brett Maher who the Bombers released last week made the RedBlacks as a dual duty kicker/punter as they released ex-Bomber Justin Palardy and rookie Paolo Henriques, both nationals.

3 DIs for sure will be Woods, Anderson (Thomas will be starting at DT to fulfill the ratio) and whoever isn't starting between Kuale and Wild. 4th spot depends on how much they trust their NI backups at DB.

Maher got cut again too.

What does everyone think of final roster and how injuries may affect opener?

Not as bad as it could have been. Most of the starting NI's outside of the guys who are down for the season should be good to go.

Suber and Banks are name players who are down, but guys like Leggett and Johnson were huge in the pre-season and look like real players.

Guys like Kelly and Kuale are CFL equivalents to a guy like Tangradi, look like they should offer a hell of a lot more but never do. I'd rather not have those guys on our team at this point as this is essentially a rebuilding year, not a contending one. Any value they bring as veterans is wasted, those snaps could be used on guys that are trending upward, not stagnant or downward.

CEO-President, GM, and Head Coach are massive upgrades. results may not show it this year but I would say the Bombers have turned a corner and have quality people on the big seats of the bus at the top.

This year will be about progress and definatley not perfection.

Although I do agree with you, we have been hearing similar messages for years.

Kuale I can agree with.. But I have no idea where this picture of Kelly comes from. Last year he pretty much caught everything thrown his way and was very good for us at the end of the year. This year in training camp he has done nothing but make one circus catch after another... Coaches rave about his technique and his skills.

It seems like just because he was a TiCat cast off ppl assume he shouldn't be starting for us. Kelly has done nothing but make plays since he got here. None of the rookie import receivers even came close to him in camp this year.

anyone who said that when Garth Butchco and Joe Mack were in charge was pretty delusional. who knows maybe these guys can't get it done but at least they have a fighting chance.

All I'm asking for is a good season out of this team, sure as hell be a lot better than last years "season"

Yup, same here. Just make it interesting. Be in the playoff race all season.

Booking tickets for the game vs the Redblacks in early July. So at least win that one.

Kelly made 3 big plays in half a season last year, and did almost nothing else positive. He does just enough to make everyone drool, but he has no versatility in terms of what he can do on the route tree, does nothing in the middle of the field, nothing after the catch. But yes, he'll pull down a few lobs down the sideline, we could probably find 500 NCAA grads from the last half decade who could do at least that if not more.

I don't care too much about what he does in practice, because he's shown over 4 seasons that he won't or can't do it when it counts. At best he's a replacement level player, at best.

3 big plays? I don't know if it's a personal dislike for him but come on. He started 7 games and had over 300 yards receiving. On pace for about 800 yards over the full season. Our leading receiver Denmark only had 900... Poor qb really hampered the numbers of this group as a whole.

To the point of his limitations... He is a wideout. He doesn't run routes to the middle of the field... That's the position and the playbook, not him. Coaches seem to think him and Denmark are the best route runners on the team, so im not sure what thats from. I agree he doesn't do a whole lot after the catch though.

He hardly ever drops a pass either. Don't get me wrong, I'd love for the Bombers to be able to upgrade him.. But i feel that way about everyone. It would mean we are a better team. But replacement level? No way. We brought in a handful of guys to win that position and they were nowhere near as good as he was. He may not be Chris Matthews. But he is a good player. I know I wont convince you. But i think he will on the field this year

Does Ottawa finish with a better record this season? I'm not much of a CFL fan, but I think that is likely.

The only thing that might give Ottawa an edge in that situation is that they play in the East. Montreal and possibly Hamilton won't be that good this year. Whereas the Bombers will have to deal with the three headed monster of Saskatchewan, Calgary and B.C out west. Edmonton is no slouch either.

Wouldn't surprise me if they did, but i'm not counting on it.

That line up doesn't give me a huge level of confidence for the season opener.
