People need to stop saying this storm didn't meet the hype. All over Manitoba and North Dakota people are dealing with 40+ cm of snow today, Winnipeg just happened to get lucky.
I live in Winnipeg dude, that’s my point of reference. Relax already, stop trying to control the conversation.

I made 1 post about how it wasn't overhyped directed at everyone in general. Maybe you need to relax because you seem offended and upset.

I will say this - pain is easily forgotten, and in the later part of week 3, or week 4 in April we'll likely see + 21 to +24 degrees Celcius, and we can all forget about this cruel and brutal winter. I thought we had global warming ?? where is it? ( I'm a fan)

I also remember playing baseball on my friends birthday on May 18, and it started to snow quite heavily -- so be aware it can happen, but likely won't - hopefully. This is one of the coldest winters in my mind over the last 10 years. Last year was a peach of a winter -- walk in the park.

Maybe because we had very little rain last summer, Mother Nature has a way of balancing the books, and decided the farmers needed a little moisture for the ground. Oh well, I hope it's over, and we can get some sunshine and warmth.

I'm a hot weather guy, and should have been born in California, Florida, Georgia, or somewhere warm like that. I hope to spend next winter in the Philippines, where it's hot, and the "girls" are friendly. :)

Couldn't do that this year, because of Covid restrictions etc.

you should really learn about global warming before you call yourself a "fan" of it...

?? You quoted my post. Far from offended or upset, amused mostly.

well, in a week we might get within a degree or two of something like a normal temp for this time of year. We'll see. Looks like we'll be adding more snow to the piles on Sunday. A balmy -6 today! That'll be nice...

Yeah that's right. I'm wallowing in my own crapulence. Deal...lol

I got stuck down my backlane this morning, but managed to get my car back in my garage. Had to walk to Superstore on Sargent to get some groceries, but the shelves were pretty bare. I needed to get some bananas, but they didn't have any fruit or vegetables at all! I did manage to buy some milk, so if you ACTUALLY need some, they have lots...

Damn, we're frickin' twins.

I don't honestly recall 66 but I have pictures of me plunked on a snow drift. I think I've blocked it out.

'86 was when I got my first brand new car (I've only ever bought one other car brand new). My parents were driving it home from Vancouver (bought it from a dealer out there for cheaper than here and my parents had a condo out there at the time). First time I saw it the car was parked on the median just south of the Osborne street bridge - that's as close as my parents could get the car to the house for a couple of days. To this day I don't know how my dad got it up on the median.
Wow, maybe we were separated at birth? Lol.
I also have only bought two new vehicles in my life.
If you tell me that both of yours were Toyotas also, we need to do some investigating. 😀

Now that is what I was expecting.

The forecast was 30-50 cm, with a CHANCE of up to 80 cm in some areas. They were pretty damn close. It was all of those safety advisories that were tagged on that got people excited. Stock up on food, medications, flashlights, etc. All good advice but also in the "just in case" category. That and a lot of people fixated on that CHANCE of 80 cm and took that as the predicted snowfall.

Not Environment Canada's nor the media's fault. Just that people over-reacted. Who would have expected that after the TP panic of 2019?

Is it wrong I have one foot of snow on my driveway and still am not even shovelling it?

It'll all melt by Saturday anyway. And I am doing my work at home.

This has a very bad flood written all over it. I'm talking potentially the worst since 1997.

I don't expect it to melt that fast. But I am not shoveling either. It will be gone in a few days.

We didn't get any orders in since Tuesday basically and did record sales on Monday and Tuesday. I'm surprised they had any stock.

We're clear of needing investigating but we could have a casual discussion over beers. My first was a 1986 Honda CRX. My most recent was a 2018 Nissan Maxima.

Not that anyone asked but the cars I've owned (as off topic as possible) were:

1980 Civic - bought used from my parents
1986 CRX - bought new, written off in 94
1988 Accord - bought new, written off in 00
1998 Altima - bought used
2005 Altima - was my wife's car but when we traded in the 98 I inherited her car. That was 2012.
2015 Altima - bought used
2018 Maxima - bought new out of Calgary. Ironically both of my new cars were bought at considerable savings outside of MB.

I do like Toyota's and clearly had a thing for Honda's. Back when my Accord was written off I was looking at another Accord. But I did a little comparison and the Altima was largely the same car but $4000 cheaper. So I bought it as an experiment, put 456,000 km on it and was sold. Wasn't planning on buying the Maxima but my kid needed a car because she's out of province going to school (it was a "need" not a want) so we handed the Altima to her and I got the Maxima.

On topic the snow today was lighter for shoveling but it was crusted up top so that made it more annoying than the weight otherwise should have been. Snow can f*ck right off any time now.

Just wondering if this latest snowfall pushes up higher on the list. I think it was the 3rd snowiest winter on record prior.
