You are spot on with this and I agree. I like the all caps to emaphasoze how sure you are of Blackwood after tonight’s game where he almost single handedly rallied the team.

The sad part is that if I started the clock maybe a few games later, it’s probably even worse over the last 58-60 games.
While the hot start ended after his opening 5 games of that year, the real implosion that year looked like it started happening around game 9 of his season that year. That would be .891% (.890.6% to be exact) over his last 60 games.
Literally I think the best we can hope from this guy are some good games. And that’s it. Maybe short spurts. Between this and his final 50+ games in the AHL, I’m supremely confident that he just isn’t any good.
The really bad stretch of AHL play came long before his NHL injuries and illness. The good NHL play is sandwiched right in between very large samples of suck.
I don’t think he’s gonna have a particularly successful NHL career. He may have another good season, but it won’t be the norm. And it definitely ain’t happening here.

I wish I didn’t have to pay all this money to see him tomorrow.
He SUNK us the last time he played in that building.
4 goals halfway into regulation and Bernier came in and stopped all 16 or something in relief.
At least two of the goals were weak that night from my memory.

I agree this game was on Vitek, but he didn’t inspire any confidence with a weak behind the net goal that was banked in off of him. That was the weakest goal scored tonight.
And he’s the guy coming to the rescue, but he has shown can’t be relied on at all the last 60 games.
We’re f***ed if Vitek doesn’t snap out of this, because Blackwood won’t.
But he could give us a few good games. I expect him to do more bad than good.
They were all weak goals tonight. 3 goals on 13 shots against Vanecek plus another called back for offsides. But go on some more about Blackwood. It’s exhausting.

What’s really exhausting is that he has any supporters left at all. People in the GDT (not talking about you) are talking about how we aren’t getting any saves from Vanecek, yet a couple of these same people think Blackwood who stops about 89% of the shots his last two years might actually be answer?
I think it takes more calories to have any faith or hope in this guy anymore than it does for me to go on these long winded rants about how much he sucks and his numbers the last two years.

I mean, I don’t care how bad Vanecek has been. He’s been an average goalie in his career. I don’t think he’s got elite upside, I’m not even sure if he has really good upside, but he’s average.CHURCH OF BLEEDRED

Blackwood is far below average. His pro hockey career has been BAD. Somehow he actually had more success at the NHL level than the AHL level, but that’s becoming a long time ago now.
He plays too important of a position and he’s a really bad player at it. And there seems to be no end in sight to his incompetent puck stopping (in)ability. He still played bad enough in a couple of his games before the injury to cancel out his good.

I’ve actually been saying for probably 2-3 weeks now that just to spite me it’ll be that game in Florida. It was easy to spot, just because of the back to back.
And here we are…..
I had a little bit of hope that they would extend his conditioning stint through this week, but it was not to be.
I can't speak to the GDT as I wasn't in there tonight (met up with some friends to watch the game) nor do I think Blackwood is the answer. It was just a bit surprising (though in hindsight, it shouldn't have been) that it was purely Blackwood getting hate in this thread last night when both goalies stunk up the joint and I think Vanecek was way worse.
Whatever, I don't really have faith in either guy at the moment, nor this team to score goals and win. I don't know what the solution is for goaltending for this team. Schmid has been good, but is coming back down to earth. Not many attractive UFA's coming up this offseason - Andersen, Jarry, Varlamov? No clue what they do with the position.

vanacek was bad last night for sure. honestly think it’s a game schmid could have won. first goal was bad all around but everything else were shots from the circle on rushes that schmid has been good on.

Well I’ve seen other goalies allow that last one a few times this year, but it’s not a goal that’s allowed with any kind of regularity, that’s for sure.
At least not clean like that. I’ve seen it a happen a little more often when it goes off of someone and bounces in.
