The question is why would you slide out of play on a 2 on 1?
That's some mighty confidence in your goalie lol

Wow, 2 bad bounces on Chabot & Tkatchuk and that's all it took to blow a 3-1 lead....

That's Hockey!
In both cases the team was thinking more about offense than closing out a game, our situational awareness is pretty lacking which is normal for a young team but we were in the stretch where you got to think prevent. Chabot needs to get his body in front of that puck not waive at it, otherwise he has to back out.

Brannstrom in rotating in deep to keep the offence going which was the right thing to do earlier for sure but we're defending a lead with 4 mins to go play it safer.

We got too comfortable imo,

Game management and a general lack of maturity by the Sens is horrible under DJ Smtih, slow starts, goals late in periods and poor decision making all over the ice. Could say it was a bad bounce or a bad play but if you can’t bury the Chicago Blackhawk’s with a a 2 goal lead when your desperate for the playoffs - that’s your entire team sucking ass

Does anybody know what the attendance was tonight?

Looked at the average game attendance for this year and one website had it at 16,311.

Thanks & wow.

What website do you use for game attendance?
I use The Score app. I find it's the best of the various apps if you just want the scores across pro sports. Not as good as other apps if you're looking for game write-ups, analysis etc. It has attendance in the Boxscore of every game.

NHL posts the attendance usually by third period in the official game summary/game sheet

Ah, NHL.com ..... Thanks.

OK, thanks.

I guess the good news is that average attendance is pretty good, and some games like this one are really good & that they are filling the barn. It's good to see. Next year could be a very exciting year.

On the third goal, people can debate Brannstrom leading the rush or isolate Tkachuk bobbling the puck, but what is the hell is Mathieu Joseph doing? For ABSOLUTELY NO REASON he leaves his position covering for Brannstrom and waltzes into the offensive zone just as the puck is going the other way.

DJ actually had a pretty good synopsis of the plays that lead to blowing that lead.

You don't need the 4th goal. You need to make smart plays, and the safer plays. Take the opportunities you are given when the Hawks try to push.

The shorthanded goal against was unacceptable. Can't let that happen.

For me it’s very simple. This team is at a stage where they need someone to take them to the next level. And that someone is a coach. Like all these things. We’re ALMOST there. You can feel it when you watch us. But just need that something extra. That little more attention detail. Little more hustle. Need a vet coach with tried and true systems and mentality.

Agreed, Joseph abandons his job, looking for offense, didn't mean to suggest it was all on Brannstrom

I’m guessing this is why the lines are in a blender for some reason on a 6-1-1 run?

As Athanasiou skates through the neutral zone, he starts coasting and enters the Senators zone at less than full speed.

I imagine that Chabot is used to executing the diving defensive manoeuvre when the play is moving at full speed, but perhaps it is harder when the play is moving slow, because the gap control and timing are a little less familiar in this scenario.

With nobody chasing him, Athanasiou has so many options to make a play. I think it's hard to surprise Athanasiou with an aggressive diving move like that when the play is moving slowly. and Athanasiou has lots of options to work around it.

I think it would have been better for the Sens if the Blackhawks had a 2 on 0 and Chabot was chasing the play from behind. At least the Blackhawks would have had to rush their execution of whatever play they attempt.
