Surprise, surprise... Seeing lots of overreactions online. A couple thoughts on the overreactions:
1) Josh wasn't good enough - he had an off day. It happens. He was missing open receivers, the ball placement was off on the passes he did complete, and it looked like he had hard time deciphering the Jets coverages all day. If Josh is Josh, then we win that game by 2-3 touchdowns.
2) Seeing lots of commentary on our weapons, i.e. Gabe isn't a #2, Knox needs to get more involved, we miss Beasley. What a bunch of bullshit. We lost because they wrecked our o-line without blitzing. It's literally our recipe for success on the other side of the ball. It doesn't matter who the weapons are, if Josh is getting linemen shoved back into his face consistently, he's not going to have time to read the defense and make plays back there, especially when there are 7 guys sitting back there playing well disguised coverages. As for Gabe's drop at the end, do we really need to make any long term conclusions because he couldn't make a difficult catch while a guy was draped all over him?
3) That's the second time this season we lost right after a phantom hold call erases a huge play to kill a comeback attempt. I know the common response is "there's a million reasons we lost, that shouldn't be the difference", but that line is bullshit. For many seasons we watched Brady sneak by mediocre opponents with a last minute comeback, and now we see Mahomes doing it too. It's the old adage - great teams aren't always great, just when they have to be. Well, it's pretty bullshit that the refs decide to get involved when we're trying to have our "be great when you have to be" moments.
Final thoughts - being 0-2 in the division really sucks. It's way early, but we're already behind on potential tie breakers. Quessenberry is terrible and almost got Josh killed.
I also agree with a lot from Eric's assessment here, but I still have doubts that Tre will look like Tre this season.
