Haven't wild always put kaprizov's need, and want since he came? Why would wild take away kaprizov best friend; mentor in Zuccarello and risk pissing off kaprizov? Another question, we finally have a franchise player in kaprizov, & I guess my fear is kaprizov will leave, ask for trade if Zuccarello is gone, so why do fans want to get rid of zuccy to keep fiala?

The relationship between Zucc & Kap, and their chemistry on and OFF the ice, is something special. Kap loves him, Zucc's experience and mentor role has helped him a lot. And nobody on this team can feed the puck to Kap like Zucc can do.
And Kap will play long after Zucc is retired. He can play without him at any time, like he has for most of his life anyway.

Moving him to a different line doesn't take him out of the locker room anyway.

I'm just looking at the numbers from last year and across the board the Kap line is better with Zucc than without.

I do think it's kind of a moot point though. Kaprizov can drive a line, Fiala can drive a line, Boldy will probably get to that point sooner rather than later. All three of them are or will be better players than Zuccarello. So it becomes an issue of, if you trade Fiala and move Boldy to Kaprizov's line, the Kaprizov line will get better, but Zuccarello's line would be almost worthless.

But that's not the same as saying Kaprizov needs to be with Zuccarello because "he's his best friend".

I'm just looking at the numbers from last year and across the board the Kap line is better with Zucc than without.

Well typically because when Zuccarello isn't on that line, he's replaced with guys like Foligno and Bjugstad. Obviously it's going to be better with Zuccarello because Zuccarello is a better player than those two. But that still doesn't mean Kaprizov needs to be with Zuccarello. These are several different conversations being conflated into the idea that breaking up Kaprizov and Zuccarello would somehow be detrimental to Kaprizov. It wouldn't be.

@AKL it's not that simple, you totally forget about the human aspect here. The relationship between Zucc & Kap, and their chemistry on and OFF the ice, is something special. Kap loves him, Zucc's experience and mentor role has helped him a lot. And nobody on this team can feed the puck to Kap like Zucc can do.

It's hard to say how Kaprizov will react if Zucc leaves this team now, it wouldn't surprise me if Kap's production drops. But he's young and has many years ahead of him in this league, he should get over it at some point. Maybe not with the Wild though.

Those bonds are very strong, don't ignore this. A perfect example is Henrik Lundqvist who broke down and never recovered when Zucc had to leave New York.
Lundqvist was 37 when Zuccarello was traded. Truly a shocking downturn.

Sure, I certainly don't expect Kaprizov to fade away without Zucc, then I'd be shocked because he has to deliver the goods with that contract. But the best for the Wild and Kap would be to let Zucc play out his contract, and I believe that's their plan.

When it comes to the lines. They won't move Zucc off the top line, a 6M ppg player, and put Boldy or some other kid up there. At least not as long as the line is effective.

I'd also like to see Boldy playing with Zucc though, the kid could use an experienced linemate. Then who's going to the top line if Fiala is gone?

That's like saying they won't move Hartman off the line either, after all, he's a sub $2m 30 goal scorer.

Except, we know that both these players are NOT THAT without Kap.

No, it's just a coincidence that Zuccarello was a 57 per 82 player before Minnesota, a 47 per 82 player in Minnesota pre-Kaprizov, and an 83 per 82 player with Kaprizov

:sarcasm:

Then he finally got some elite linemates playing with Benn and Seguin for the Stars, and he reached ppg production. It's the same with Kaprizov, he needs skilled linemates to keep up his scoring...

15 games isn't a big enough sample size to make such a claim. Players get hot and go on streaks all the time.

Talk about being overdramatic.

They sure do talk a lot when you cancel your season tickets. No listening as to why you canceled. Just them saying lots of words.

If it makes you guys feel better, it's not just exclusive to the Wild. I've heard some pretty dumb things about how Edmonton treats their STH too

I liked my agent rep, the giveaways. and the perks I had as a STH. So no complaints about that.

The things about the team I didn't like are many paygrades above them.

Yeah this is what I meant. The ticket reps themselves are usually great, it's just the policies that the higher ups implement.

When I had tickets, the end of season survey asked about the teams commentators and game production regarding Lapanta/Greenlay/Gorg/etc and I wrote they should fire Greenlay and the next year his games were decimated.

Soooo, you’re welcome.

Probably in the minority but I just listened to Russo’s final Podcast with Guerin covering the season and I truly believe he’s not a bright a guy, I get dumber listening to him.

I wonder what he told Fiala in their exit meeting. Not only did Fiala say "Thank you Minnesota" on Instagram, but he also changed his profile picture, no longer in a Wild jersey.
