Bill Guerin investigated for alleged abuse

What kind of abuse?
Says verbal.

Probably yelled at a young employee lol

The alleged incident that led to the investigation occurred in late November and was reported to the team’s HR department, which commissioned an outside law firm to investigate. Two attorneys traveled to St. Paul and interviewed more than 15 members of the organization.

Two team sources indicated that the investigation into Guerin’s alleged behavior was complete and the findings were delivered to upper management and ownership early this week. Wild management determined that Guerin had not committed a fireable offense, team sources said Wednesday.

The article says the employee who filed the complaint is a 10 year employee and somebody Guerin interacts with every day. So not just yelling at some intern.

"The employee who filed the complaint, according to team sources, is Andrew Heydt, the Wild’s director of team operations and player relations. Heydt has been in that position for 10 years and oversees team travel, logistics, and player and alumni relations.

Heydt has been absent from work the past couple of days after traveling with the team on its most recent road trip. In his role, Heydt interacts with Guerin on an almost daily basis."

A team ops director is kinda like a tour manager - whenever there's an event for the players he organizes it, or if there's a problem with the team getting around, he's the guy that troubleshoots it. Heydt is probably on call 24/7 and works as many hours as needed to get the job done. Not the kind of employee you want to dump verbal diarrhea on.

"If you don't have any Heydters, you're not doing something right."

The investigation was completed already and Wild upper management didn't take action, and this is coming out now... so Heydt being on leave and the AGM leaving means others below Guerin are not happy with the outcome. Surely this is a play to get him removed.

IF this was anything like that time Guerin blew his lid on Talbot it was justified. But considering the employees job responsibilities it’s probably nothing like that. Hard to say how serious it was if Wild investigated and did not find grounds for firing though.

I'm kind of shocked Russo wrote this.

He has good access with both BG and Heydt(Heydt is somewhat routinely quoted or mentioned by Russo. Also had a profile or 3 done over the last decade).

This certainly jeopardizes it.

Maybe Heydt is one of his sources on it to have it on the public sphere if there is retaliation.
