Babcock never made Modano a healthy scratch for game 1500. That's a fabrication. Mike Commodore spent years spouting it yet never bothered to look it up.
With four games left in the 2010 season, Babcock infamously scratched Mike Modano before a game as the veteran center sought to reach the 1,500-game milestone to finish his career. “He knew,” Modano told The Athletic in 2023. “The assistants had said something and he was well aware of it and made it clear that he didn’t bring me there to play 1,500 games. He brought me there to win a Cup. When he told me that, I couldn’t believe it.”

So... what makes it a fabrication?

Uh, that doesn't make Tom Barrasso a jerk.

Intentionally blocking people from getting where they need to go in order to manipulate them into doing what you want is impolite.

That post is confusing an autograph request with an autograph demand. It is a clear line.
Matthews's alter ego Barrasshole may be a jerk lol

Bobby Clarke when he was an Executive

John Tortorella, obviously.

Alain Vigneault and Michel Therrien were notorious assholes as well.

I was under the impression he was cheap and difficult to do business with but not an overly malicious owner.
depending on which reports you like to believe he allegedly made life extremely difficult for two reporters

drove alfredsson away from the team (sens really only have 1 player at that level so yeah) and he did this both as a player and a franchise employee

publicly asked for a liver donation, only to threaten moving the team at the outdoor game a short while later

the fact that any semi important to important player that left ottawa during his tenure was painted as a full on villain

his between two ferns moment to try and control the narrative

him attacking the media for questioning the mark stone trade

theres a good amount more, he was definitely cheap but he was also an ass

Canucks owners allowing Mark Messier to wear #11 without notifying Wayne Maki's family– the number was taken out of circulation following Maki's death.

I don't know if this qualifies. Messier has had a bit of a reputation for being a dick, but it was probably the Canucks' owners who are more at fault here.
Messier was a dick to fans in New York.

I guess he was the Sens Ballard, held the team back for years and years.
As a Leaf fan I'm excited for the Sens to finally get a good arena that's close to their market.

"If you want loyalty, buy a dog" -Marc Bergevin after he decided to not give a contract to Markov, despite the fact that Markov had almost 1000 games played with us.
Instead, he gave a big ass contract to Karl Alzner
Pretty sure that reference was to Radulov leaving for same money elsewhere, after his career was resurrected by MB and the Habs. His comment was a derivative of “its just business”.

Markov was offered a one year, year by year deal and held out for 2 years. Which I think MB should have given him, but not accurate that he wasn’t offered a contract.

MB was many things, including his one great sin for Habs fans, the trading of Subban for a better player. But he doesn’t belong in this thread.

I know right?

Seems like once a year, kids from the neighborhood dress up like little hoodlums and knock on my door demanding candy. So annoying! I stand firm though and tell those kids "No way, $50!". Then when they look at me all confused, I push them off my porch, and tell them to get lost!

Damn kids. They need to learn some respect.

He did not scratch him at 1499. That he did not get to 1500 because he was scratched earlier is not scratching someone at 1499. Was Modano playing well? Were the Wings in a fight for the division? How was Modano used in the playoffs? Can you name a single solitary person who considers 1500 a thing? If it was so important, is there a reason he couldn't get it?
