Extremely impressed with Liljegren. He’s finally made it to the NHL. Playing great hockey and even goaded Marchand to take a stupid penalty on which we scored to get some distance.

We are noticeably better defensively without Holl and his slow skating. He always gets beat to the outside.

Just hoping that one bad game doesn’t put him in the press box because he deserves to play the majority of the time. If we can’t live with the growing pains of becoming a top 4 D in the NHL now, they will make them in the playoffs and it will be more costly then.

I have to agree,Lily has been ripened for a few years but he’s ready to play a regular role without fear of being taken out immediately.

I’ve also been impressed by the work of the third and fourth lines, despite the lack of points. Our top 4 have had the bulk of points in the past 5 games but isn’t that the way it’s supposed to be? You can stop one or two on a given night but then you have to contend with the other two.

Campbell has been outstanding, especially in third periods. The Pasta goal was disappointing but as any Italian will tell you, sometimes Pasta is better than Soup, lol

Leafs looked really good most of the game. They slipped a little in the third, but it was expected that Boston would go full steam.

Matthews was pretty sub-par until the second powerplay, then redeemed himself with two goals.

Tavares won me over a bit more after he said he'd be more like a Captain should in an interview. Since then, he's been fabulous.

Marner with 4 points, what else can you say than that?

Campbell is obscenely good the last two seasons. Holy hell they won't be able to afford him next season with made of paper Mrazek taking up the goalie funds.

Good game, five wins in a row, really can't say much else other than happy as can be.
Not sure why this narrative is out there. Coming into the season, the Leafs really needed to sign someone who could carry the mail should Campbell falter or get injured. Injuries happen.

If Campbell is lights out and earns a bigger contract, that is much better for the Leafs going forward. It's literally as simple as trading Mrazek (who will be open to moving somewhere to get more starts) and getting a cheaper backup.

First full game I’ve watched all year. That was fun.

You picked a good one to watch, no doubt about it. :)

That was a great game to cap off a solid week. As always, best not to get too high when things are going well and not to get too low when they're not. When we were sucking I said I still expect us to easily make the playoffs and today I'll quietly point out that sure it's been a good week, but the big picture shows us tied for 13th place overall which is nothing to brag about. And it's early November FFS so let's keep in mind that it's a long ride that has only just begun.

Looking forward to the next one, hopefully we keep playing well. GLG!!

Is winning three in a row against Vegas, Tampa and Boston good?

No, it doesn't count when Toronto does it. We still suck and no matter how well we play the only thing that matters is 1967 !

Great game by the big boys. I missed this one live but watched as many re-caps as I could. Keep the momentum going, the boys are playing well and competing hard, also Jack Campbell is a f***ing beauty.

Did I hear them correctly when they said we only play Boston 3 times this year?

3 more times after this game.

If I remember correctly in an 82 game season the games in general are:

  • Within division: 4 games x 7 = 28 games total
  • Against metro division but within eastern conference: 3 games x 8 teams = 24 games total
  • Against western conference 2games (home and away) x 15 teams (exclude Seattle) = 30 games

total 28+24+30 = 82 games

Now with seattle in the mix not sure where the cuts are gonna be because if you include seattle in the last bullet it goes to 84 games. I guess we are playing 1 game less than we usually do against 2 teams this season. Not sure which teams

Good point. I'm not sure how they've worked it out now that Seattle is in the league. My understanding of the way it was broken down before is the same as you.
