it is real news because supposedly the IOC, in theory, is not selecting the host until July.

Yet here you are, not quoting those things. I would love to see an actual argument, after 9 months, as to why middle/lower income voters not happy with tax abatements for a Billionaire or living next to a luxury community they wouldn't be able to afford is NIMBYism.

Clearly it's not worth reading the rest of your post if you can't get basic information like names right. it's Dawn Penich-Thacker, Tony Cani, and Gayle Shanks.

And yet here you are using obtuse references and playing spelling police to try and prove something.

But since you brought up..

When I find the quote from DTP I’ll link it….

But I think I’ve already shown I don’t make these things up. But I’ve already shown how much you like to stretch truths about people.

I'm waiting for you to make any form of argument on how a neighborhood wanting a Billionaire to pay full property taxes on his $2 Billion Arena district, or at least pay the same amount of money into the affordable housing fund as the other $2B retail district down the road, is NIMBYism.

I'll wait.

Good thing I've already explained how Kuby and Shanks contributed very little to the overall opposition campaign and we're only used as a red herring by Worker Power because the Coyotes and their fans are so short sighted.

Worker Power supplied the money so that Tempe1st and company could put up an equal campaign.

Of course not.

They filed their own papers under the “No on 301,302, and 303” as an independent entity.

I even LINKED it here a long time ago.

Keep trying.

Edit:

No they didn't. No where in Worker Powers 16 campaign filings is there an expenditure to anyone affiliated with Tempe 1st/Democracy for Tempe.

Here you go, have at it slugger.

C'mon, IOC... award the 2030 games to Salt Lake City...

already announced slc as preferred site for 2030.

SLC was always the likely favorite for 2034, because LA has the summer in 2028. The IOC doesn't want to go back-to-back, and it's hard for the USOC to go back-to-back given the magnitude of the Games.

The "preferred site" thing was misleading, because bidding for 2030 and 2034 is just weird. The IOC adding in some "dialogue" designations as part of strategic planning to move away from "Accept bids, pick best, try and move it around" and towards a default rotation of some kind, because of the concern of weather going forward.

It sounds like they'd have bidding and bids, but those in the rotation would be assumed to bid and able to host, unless someone else (presumably in the same region of the world) emerged as a good candidate who was selected instead.

Their fear is that they only have like 10 total cities who'd have the climate/infrastructure to host, and if they don't plan ahead they could find themselves in an embarrassing situation.

Salt Lake is a "preferred site" as some combination of "being in the dialogue for 2030, 2034, and as a willing future rotation member.

What part of “No on 301,302,303” did you not understand? You do understand there was a coalition of groups in on this right?

That advocacy groups can and often do coordinate efforts for a single cause, right?

We’re in the SLC thread by the way. You can stop trying to chase brownie points now.

Is Weekes's full time job just posting pictures of cities alongside emoticons?

He showing to be the real life version of even a blind squirrel finds a nut.

Or even a broken clock is right twice a day.

Hasn't it been for a while that -unofficially- French Alps 2030 and SLC 2034.

Tardif already confirmed hockey will played in Nice, so yes.

The feeling I get on this is that the Yotes are moving to Utah. It won't be an expansion but a relocation, unless Yotes ownership can finalize a stadium deal the day before yesterday and that might not even be soon enough..

I never think that public funding for an arena is a good idea financially for taxpayers, but hot darn that'd be a sweet deal for the Smith group.

Well, the thing is, they have the context framed perfectly...

We're not going to tax you to fund the Olympics, which is like $8 billion for 14 days of events.

We'll tax you for $2.5 billion, give you MLB and NHL for the next 30+ years, and use those venues for the Olympics!

What a value!
