Cool story bro!Hall was never considered the best player in the world in any year.
Even in his Hart year he has a tough case of being top 3.
to bad that has nothing to do with anything that I asked or stated.

Well you did quote this so your claim is what exactly?Cool story bro!

I'm I thinking of the wrong year? Why isn't Hall at least part of the poll?
I think it's always hardest in those years where you have to compare across positions. I think there could have been a lot more years that a goalie or a defenseman *could* have been the best player in the year; they're just playing a different game than the forwards are, and our method of judgment for them is less obvious or apparent. Much like the years where you had Hasek competing with Jagr, and Lidstrom competing with whoever; I think Karlsson and Price give Crosby the greatest challenge to his claim for best in the world in any given year over this part of the decade, and it's because they were so brilliant and dominant at their position.Karlsson was the best player in the world this year. I have never seen a single player (outside of a goalie) carry his team like Karlsson did this year. Ottawa regularly won games on essentially his effort alone, it was absurd to watch. Unless you watched him every night you wouldn't see all the little things he'd do every time he was on the ice.
Last year Crosby is undisputed #1
Is it hard to understand how part of the poll doesn't = top 3?Well you did quote this so your claim is what exactly?
Sure I get there are 13 players in the poll but at any given time there are at best maybe 3 players with a legitimate claim to best player in the world and often less.Is it hard to understand how part of the poll doesn't = top 3?
Is it your assertion that Hall was not good enough to be among the 13 players in the POLL?
take the L and get a "D" in reading comprehension and move on.
Not to mention mackinnion was robbed blind of that hartSure I get there are 13 players in the poll but at any given time there are at best maybe 3 players with a legitimate claim to best player in the world and often less.
Hall has never been in that conversation as a serious candidate.
Amazing consistency from Crosby.
12 years and counting considered one of the 3 best players in the league.
You think Penguins fans were the only people voting in all these polls? In reality he certainly wasn't, but his fans will pretend he was.
I want to commend @FrankSidebottom for keeping this series of polls going. It's generated 50% insightful discussion, 30% arguing about semantics, and 20% rehashing tired arguments from the usual suspects. By HFBoards standards, that's a good ratio!
Reality shows otherwise 18 straight seasons PPG+ but you know that right? In reality he certainly wasn't, but his fans will pretend he was.
Canadians too eh.You think Penguins fans were the only people voting in all these polls?
Right, I guess this poll would have more validity if it were on the main boards rather than only the Pens board. In reality he certainly wasn't, but his fans will pretend he was.
There are a number of Canadian players on the poll. If "Candians" are an x-factor voting bloc, there's a danger of vote splitting.Canadians too eh.

Wait...
Like usual you are off topic as the question isn't who had the best season and even if you don't agree with those choices you have to admit that Crosby was in the mix or else there is some other narrative or bias creeping in here. The thing about this voting is, it isn't ranked choice.
So Crosby fans really were claiming - with a straight face - that he was better than Jagr/Thornton in 2006, better than Ovechkin in 2008-2010, better than Malkin in 2012, better than Price in 2015, better than Kane in 2016.
There is absolutely zero case for Crosby as best player in any of those seasons.
So again, this poll series is more a measure of rank homerism on this forum than anything else.
