Well if one can't add to the conversation one can do this eh?
To be fair, you seem to be bringing up a totally different subject. VN already proved his claim. Not sure why people keep replying trying get a one up.

This is a forum to exchange opinions there is zero need for anyone to be a complete jerk when responding to others right?

You’re right there’s no need for that, but I thought what he said was fair because the other guy called out his math.

Anyway, have a good one and enjoy the games tonight

Holtby was a Vezina lock after winning 48 games.
Price was a machine at this point. I’d argue he was the best player the league two years running. In 2016 he didn’t miss a beat. He was 10-2 and untouchable.

Then he got hurt. Suddenly the first place team he was on became a last place club. They were a total disaster without him. He was the difference between first and last place for that club.

Tight battle between hart winner and Hart 2nd + Conn Smythe winner. But Kane was playing with new superstar Panarin while Sid played with who, 40 year old Kunitz and Sheary? Yeah it's still Sid

Lol I love how the usual crowd with biases against Crosby just assume any argument they don’t agree with is due to a bias for him. I haven’t voted for Crosby here, or in any of the other seasons he hasn’t won, but have argued against the idea that simply the best season is the end goal here. But if your lack of reading comprehension leads to that conclusion, so be it.
Your views are always bias towards Crosby. You may vote one way but you argue another, which is contradicting. Crosby lost ground in 2015 and needed a weak playoff MVP for 2016 to even be considered. Like I said, Crosby can keep losing Harts and scoring titles, but still get the grace period treatment.

This is a perfect example of Crosby Bias

McDavid isn't an option?
Why would it be?

You are a year too early here.

Sure except nothing he said that wasn't true.

Aside from Crosby and Letang the rest of the Pens played like a rag tag crew.

You Price fans are out to lunch if you think he wins the Hart over 106 point Kane. Kane lit the league on fire.

He’s the best choice for this poll because this season came right after his playoff dominance in 2 Cup wins and a Game 7 OT loss in the WCF as well. His regular season finally matched up with how effective of a player he was in the playoffs.

Considering Kane scored 110 points 3 years later, and finished 5th in goals, 6th in assists, and 3rd In points, all without Panarin….what’s true about the insinuation that he was a product of better teammates while Crosby struggled because his weren’t “superstars?”

As for the “rag tag” crew, the 2016 Pens were one of the most well balanced offensive teams in the playoffs and one of the top offensive teams in the regular season.

Crosby was in a 3 way tie in points(15) going into the finals with Malkin and Bonino with Kessel leading the pack with 18 points.

Sidney Crosby had an absolutely abysmal start to the season. People were questioning if he was "done". That lasted about 5 weeks - or 18 games.

In those 18 games - he had points in only 5 games. On November 17th, he was 179th in league scoring, and -8. Just a horrendous start.

So no - Sidney Crosby didn't have the best overall season. That would be Kane. But this is about best player, not best season.

He flipped a switch around mid November. From November 18th till end of season:

Crosby 76 points in 62 games, 34 goals + 27 (101 point pace)
Kane 78 points in 64 games, 33 goals, +3 (100 point pace)

Sidney Crosby then won the Conn Smythe. Yes - it's not the greatest statistical conn smythe run ever, but he was absolutely instrumental in getting his team to turn their season around/make playoffs/win cup.

Sidney Crosby was a better player than Patrick Kane in 2015-2016. He continued on that trend in the world cup that summer, and again the following year.

I think Carey Price deserves consideration. I voted for him last poll (close with Crosby), and good chance Price was still just as good/better going into this year, but he only got to play 12 games before a season ending injury, so a bit harder to gauge his level of play vs others.

Carey Price had 3 serious injuries in his career.

2014 playoffs - eastern conference final. With him - his teams makes it to round 3, good chance to make final/compete for cup....he goes down, his team is eliminated in round 3.

2016 start of season. Coming off a hart win, leads Habs to first overall in NHL standings in November with a fantastic start (even better than prior year)....he goes down, Habs go from 1st in league to last in league rest of season.

2022 season after 2021 playoffs. 2021 playoffs - one of the greatest goalies performances ever in NHL playoff history in leading a massiver underdog to the finals...close to winning a cup but just couldn't beat mammoth tampa...so Habs go from finals vs Tampa in 2021....to absolutely last place team the following year with Price gone.

In terms of "valuable to team" - which essentially is what Hart is - Carey Price ranks exceedingly high. With him- his team is in finals/1st in league - without him, they go from finals/first in league to dead last, on 3 occasions. It's a hell of an impact.

It's hard to project how good his season would have been in 2015-2016 if he played all year - who knows, goalies are inconsistent, and it's 12 games, maybe he slows down big time and doesn't even win Vezina...but maybe he puts forth an even better year than season before.

I think if Carey Price had a strong year, he absolutely would have been in contention for the Hart. Voter fatigue/goalie bias would make it harder for him to win hart over Kane maybe, but I think it's still very possible.

Also - to your second paragraph - no, the answer is Crosby.

A good season indeed. My pick finished 1st in hart voting though.
And he didnt win the Cup or Conn Smythe. This non sense about him not deserving the Smythe is so revisionist. Why would a player with 3 more points throughout the playoffs, who played against teams bottom feeders be a more valuable player that year. Crazy.

Ill take the guy who played the tough match ups vs the mickey mouse ones.
