OT: Best Pizza in Edmonton

A place that makes great pizza to is Leva, on 110 and 86 ave. It is a easy place to not know exists since it is just sort of hidden in a residential neighbourhood. Also makes the think crust like Famoso, very good.

Yeah Leva is good.

Goodfellows Pub in Ermineskin off 106st around 30 ave makes excellent pizza as well. Better than the Dominos right next door.

I'd like to know this as well. I've had some pretty solid stuff since I moved to the south side but nothing great. Any suggestions would be awesome!

Hollywood Pizza. 87th street and 95th ave. Strathearn/Bonnie Doon area.

Not deep south, but I'd say it's the best pizza south of the river.

Not sure what to tell you. I have a higher standard in restaurants because I'm quite a good cook myself.

Throw very slim offerings on a thin crust pizza that doesn't even seem baked and leavened in the manner I'm used to and it doesn't do much for me. Famosa is worse than food court pizza in my mind. Doesn't matter much to me that they outsource tomatoes from Italy if you get hardly any on your pie.

Another of my consumer traits is I want value. How much value is there, really, in importing tomatoes around the world vs local hothouse which are exceptional.

Famoso's is just that kind of chain thats hyped but what you actually get on your plate is very underwhelming, and very poor value. I've never been full after having a Pizza at Famoso. Must be a place for starving artists.

Dude...I couldn't agree more!

My wife loves Famoso...I was SO unimpressed. Even the whole ordering process irritated me. Let's take what everyone else in the world does, and do the opposite!
Pizza ain't broke, don't trying fixing it!

Not sure if you've ever been to Italy or not, but pizza in Italy is really very underwhelming, unless you like pizza with just tomato and a few leaves on it. You'll be lucky to ever find a pizza in Italy with more than two toppings on it.

Not putting that down or anything, obviously its their food and they get to set the standard, but its just not how I like my pizza. That said, nothing is worse than pizza in Japan. Just an vomit inducing list of toppings and sauces. I have no idea how anyone can gag that stuff down.

You must not have tried Domino's in Japan. Granted, it's almost $50 a pizza, but I think they actually kill an entire herd of animals to cover your meat lover's pizza. Also, the Burger King there is better than pretty much everywhere else in the world.

Japan does crap American chain food better than anybody!

Eh - disregard my previous post as I was going on what it was like a decade ago. Just checked their website; they've cut the price by about $12 a pizza and it doesn't look anywhere near as good as it used to.

You went to Japan and dined out at chain restaurants?

Royal Pizza is the best imo. I am going to try Tony's pizza after not having been there since a kid.

Recently tried Grandmas pizza in Brander Gardens - not impressed based on the reviews. Pepperoni also had hard bits of cartilage.

Irony.

Pretty sure that's what Italians would say about our pizza, and Famoso is emulating the Italian style pizza.

for what it is worth they no longer that. It is just regular service at the tables now. I admit it was annoying, which I am sure is why they got rid of it.

Agreed, wife loves it I hate it. Very cheap pizza IMO

I like both. It's just a different style. Italians are big on fresh high quality Ingredients though so they would complain about that if anything. For the record I've had pizza in Naples and Rome.. I like the way it's done in Naples a lot more. I've also had the best cola there as well Haha

I was just asked this the other day.

Wasn't it Quiznos? Dont remember them serving big pizza slices.

Didn't it switch from Quiznos to some pizza/italian joint to an oriental restaurant? Not sure what order, but it seemed to switch fairly quickly.

Pizza 99 is pretty good, but I find that it's garbage the next day. Don't get their wings, but their fish pakora is a pretty good side dish.

There's a place on 34st some numbered pizza joint that was really good a few times I ordered but horrid another so tough to say.

Slice Pizzeria on 23ave by save on foods had a sign saying it was the top voted place in millwoods. Haven't tried it yet though.

Millhurst pizza was another hit and miss joint

I think part of the issue with some joints is the workers and the lack of caring. From what I was told Pizza 99 owner's wife runs the kitchen and spends a lot of hours. Might be why they seem to be consistent.

Really? That's good to know. I live two blocks from one and quit going there just for that reason. It really was a pain.

Well I should say for the one on Whyte. I just assume the others did the same. But the one on Whyte does table service now, no ordering and paying at the counter.
