My top ten would be those I have seen play:

Marner
Mathews
Sittler
Vaive
Gilmore
Sundin
Salming
Clark
Mogilny
Kessel

Playoffs: Lonny Bohonos LOL

Are you playing a game of chess with the other users here? Did you spell his name wrong on purpose?
No, I am a terrible speller. The reason I picked Clark is because he skate, score, hit and even fight. Heck he took on Probert the best enforcer in the league and stood tall. He fought McSorley another very tough enforcer coming to Gilmore's defense and stood tall. To me it is not all about scoring it about being able to play every angle of the game. Matthews, Mariner more gifted offensively but they won't come to defend their team mate, heck they poop their pants at the thought of having to fight. Clarke did it all and was well respected by the opposing team. At the end of the day we all have our pick or picks of who we think is best of all time.

Close but not the "one goal to beat them all" moment I am referring to.

Need a hint ... just a good Leafs player, not a star but one of the better players at the time.

The Legend of Billy Barilko?

Maple Leafs defenseman Bill Barilko, who skated down the ice and suddenly dove headfirst towards the Canadiens' net. As he did, he fired a backhander towards goalie Gerry McNeil. The startled goalie never had a chance: Barilko's shot went behind him and the Maple Leafs won the 1951 Stanley Cup.

PS. The first thing that comes to mind with your clue, was Paul Henderson (who then a member of the Leafs) scored the series deciding goal for Canada in the 1972 Summit Series against the Russians in that legendary 8 game series. :)

Assuming AM34 plays the rest of this contract it will be him ainec

Matthews is clearly the best leaf ever to play in the uniform (we didn’t get peak leetch etc)

I don’t see him staying after 31 (would love to be wrong), which would be hard to make him the greatest

if Marner signs long term he probably will destroy the points record. He could be the greatest leaf of all time when it’s said and done. Which is hilarious but possible.

If Matthews retires here, no question it’s him. I just think he goes to the states eventually

Slice this a few ways but for modern era

Matthews for being the best goal scorer in the world and one of the top 5 modern day players.

Accordingly and fairly paid C.

Maybe we need a Graphic/Heat Map of (name that stat) for all player for the past 50 years for confirmation?
