Bennett hit on Stolarz (no supplemental discipline) MOD WARNING IN POST #621

Real hard to answer a simple question, eh?
No I don't think minor blows to the back of the head are dangerous or a big deal.

A specific example of a minor blow to the back of the head is Seth Jones on John Tavares on the first goal. Is that a dangerous and suspendable play in your mind?

"Hi I'm Florida, I will injure key players of the opposing team because we can't beat them fairly and then apologize for it after the fact with puppy dog eyes"
Is Stolarz really a key player? He and Woll are pretty interchangeable.

As someone who's actually boxed, it is my opinion that your statement is both idiotic and indicative of a complete lack of experience in the topic at hand.

"Hey, this one instance of a thing that happened that did not result in what you're claiming COULD happen and IS PROVEN to have happened (so much so that such an act is prohibited in actual combat sports where striking the opponent is the actual goal) did not result in harm; therefore, I declare that this thing that you're saying is false and that "minor" blows to the back are not dangerous."

This is actually insane and a complete waste of time lmao

Not only that but now he has even more power throughout the league and he's already been caught red handed trying to actively retaliate against employees who penalized his son during games. And we don't think there is an issue and a major conflict of interest now with that same son as the AGM of a franchise that seems to always find its way into this kind of controversial shit and somehow always seems to get by with the league doing nothing?
It's not hard to figure it out

He was attacking referees when his son played, essentially threatening their jobs to allow his son to get away with penalties and what not

He had that entire situation with Marc Savard in particular, where he was mocking him for being injured and concussed, called him profanities in emails and basically said it was open season on him. Didn't suspend Cooke for ending Savard's career.

IIRC His son, current Florida AGM high sticked Savard or something and they lost the game cause of it, so he went after him in particular.

His son (Who we know, he actively helped through pressuring the league and officials in the league) becomes AGM in Florida 2 years ago, coincidentally around the same time they start getting away with this kind of garbage

But there's people who think it's nothing or just a coincidence lol

So we're talking about a league exec who has a legitimate history (with evidence) of threatening and pressuring the league/referees to help his son. Whether it was getting away with penalties or phantom calls.

But we're supposed to believe, that he just magically stopped that now, and it's not happening anymore ? I don't buy it. That man should have zero involvement with the league.

Stolarz finished the season

#1 in save percentage
#3 in goals against average

Woll is still a good starter but Stolarz has literally been playing at an elite level for us all year, including playoffs. It's a big blow.

It's not "one instance". It's the first instance I found within watching 36 seconds of hockey highlights, because minor contact with the back of the head happens ALL THE TIME

Shaking your head could be a sign of a concussion, but the 72% number floating around is not that 72% of the time when you shake your head it is a concussion.

Go read the study, it is severely flawed.

I am not claiming to be a scientist, but you can just read how they conducted the research and it is obviously a terrible study.

I think someone should go through all the concussions players in the NHL have had, look if they have shaken their head after being hit, and report the % of players who have shaken their heads.

That is the study basically, this method is actually more accurate because it doesn't rely on personal recall.
I did read the study lol.

They took a bunch of athletes from a database that tracks athletes (not just those who have had a concussion) and asked them whether they ever remembered experiencing the "SHAAKE" symptom, and whether they had concussions, and whether those two were related. It is highly impacted by recall bias, and they very clearly highlight this as a limitation of the study.

Your proposed study is limited by the massive under-diagnosis of concussion, which is part of the reason this group did a survey-based study where they asked participants if they'd experienced a concussion. This issue with under-diagnosis inflating sensitivity of other diagnostic tests for concussion is also discussed in the introduction of the article, which you'd see if you had read the whole thing.

The 72% is the positive predictive value. It's true positives (people with SHAAKE + concussion) over true positives + false positives (people with SHAAKE and no concussion). This means that for those that experienced a SHAAKE event in game, 72% of them had a concussion afterwards. There is no manipulation of statistics. It's exactly what they said it is.

Does it mean that 72% of all people who exhibit that SHAAKE thing will have a concussion? Not necessarily, because the study has to be validated. But, in their study cohort, that is exactly what it meant. That's by definition what PPV is - the probability that a positive result (ie exhibiting the SHAAKE phenomenon) indicates the presence of the disease (concussion).

Again, its not even a conspiracy. Colin Campbell was caught doing this with his league issues email address and it was Archived for people to find. And when called out on it, his only defense was that he didn't think those messages were saved.

Its actually more unlikely that he stopped trying to influence things regarding his son and his son's franchise than it is that he is still doing it. He has a documented history, and now has more influence over the league. Of course its still going on.

Even the leaf homers on TSN 1050 are saying this is playoff hockey

It is accidental on-purpose plays

Florida has this three headed laughing puppet in Marchand-Bennett-tkachuk

Don’t complain in the media.
You have guys on the roster to fight fire with fire or torch them on the PP
