GDT: Bedard VS Crosby - Tuesday at 7PM Central on ESPN

It's April 11th 2023. The Hawks are in a fight with Columbus and Anaheim to finish dead last in the league and, thus, the best chance at Connor Bedard. Meanwhile the Pens controlled their destiny, two wins (against 2 of the 3 worst teams in the league) and they're in, Florida is out.

Then Sidney Crosby and the Pens f***ed it all up. Ultimately not for the Hawks or the Panthers, who both made out like bandits. But the Penguins f***ed it up for themselves and only themselves.

So thank you Sidney Crosby. Thank you other Penguins. Connor Bedard would not be a Blackhawk without you.

Odd that Reichel and Athanasiou played most of preseason together and they start out on different lines. Not that I mind cuz Johnson and even Raddysh have higher hockey sense but not sure either can keep up with Reichel's speed like AA can.

I know I'm crazy but I'd like to see Bedard center those two a little. I'm just curious how the kid would look between the grizzled vets.

Very excited to see the next core start to form, I am ready for the bumpy ride these next couple years will bring but I think it will be worth it and this team will once again be a meaningful competitive team in the league.

With those lines and pairings I think a few things:
1) Kaiser is in a tough position that will make it difficult (not impossible) to succeed.
2) there is just not enough NHL talent to go around to give Reichel the help he needs to have a breakout season.
3) I LOVE the third and 4th lines.
4) Vlasic gonna be swimming in the deep end. Sink or swim time.
5) Bedard 95 points.
6) korchinski has the help he needs to be successful. If Korch and bedard are taken care of, that’s all you can ask for this season.
7) I will not be outwardly rooting to lose games this year and resolve to never be angry about winning a game from now until bedard is on his third contract 8x 14.5.
