Aside: I don't understand the complaint in the final paragraph. Disney, Apple+, etc... these are all a-la-carte options you can choose to stream or not. Paying $10-15/month for each of these is far more consumer choice than we all had when we had to increase our cable bill from $150 to $225 just to get a package that included NHL Network or HBO or [insert that one channel you wanted access to, but instead had to pay for 200+ channels just to get it].
It isn't perfect, but if you cut your cable subscription and stick with internet only, you can build your TV access in ways that get you 90% of what you want for about 50% of what you paid before.
Maybe you still have cable, in which case I can see why paying on top of that for the premium streaming services would seem like a bridge too far... the new model only works if you cut the cord so to speak.
I'm in the states now, so maybe its easier for me, but $50 for high-speed + one bundled subscription to ESPN+/Disney/Hulu for $15/month gets me nearly every Oiler game, more kids stuff than necessary and a hodge podge of goop on Hulu. If a must watch drama come along on HBO, Netflix or Apple+ I can add those on a month by month basis.
