Not sure about the deal, I like giving Fields another option, obviously, but I don't really rate Claypool.
The issue with Claypool has been his ability to get separation. With the state of the Bears receiving corps and the fact you're trying to determine if Fields is "the guy" to build around - getting a 6'4" 230lb guy that runs a 4.4 and can actually catch the ball - I like it.
Steelers giving up on a young WR is rare and raises red flags especially when they need to build around own young QB
As of now I am not thrilled with this, and Bears could have drafted a WR with that 2nd in this year's draft
Terrible move if true
Breer says its Ravens pick
Rap says its Bears pick
I like this move. He’s a good player and Chicago is terrible at drafting/developing wr’s.
Why didn't the Bears draft some help for Fields? Terrible not getting him any help. Stupid Poles. If KBS AND BWC are both shitting on this trade, chances are, it turns out just fine.
I feel like this is a common response but just because you have a hole at WR doesn’t mean every move for a WR is good regardless of how much you pay. He’s also not a WR1.I'm also a fan of this move. Everyone complains about Fields having no WRs, no weapons, and then turns around and complains when we acquire a legitimate WR1 target for him to throw to. Never change Bears fans.![]()
800+ yards/season, 10+ TDs over 2.5 seasons. The half season with garbage throwing to him. If he's not a low-end WR1 right now, he's not very far off.I feel like this is a common response but just because you have a hole at WR doesn’t mean every move for a WR is good regardless of how much you pay. I like the player, don’t like the price.
Calling Claypool a legit #1 is extremely hyperbolic.I'm also a fan of this move. Everyone complains about Fields having no WRs, no weapons, and then turns around and complains when we acquire a legitimate WR1 target for him to throw to. Never change Bears fans.![]()
He had a great rookie season, no doubt. But last season...800+ yards/season, 10+ TDs over 2.5 seasons. The half season with garbage throwing to him. If he's not a low-end WR1 right now, he's not very far off.
He's a legitimate NFL receiver. Something of which the Bears only have one.
He had a great rookie season, no doubt. But last season...
59 receptions, 860 yards, 2 TDs
This year he's on pace for...
68 receptions, 661 yards, 2 TDs
In no way is that close to a #1. Mooney's stats are miles better and nobody around here thinks he's a #1 WR anymore.
I agree that he’s a legit receiver. Probably a good WR2 or a great 3. . I’m glad we got him. Just felt like a lot to give up. Packers apparently offered a 2nd too. Idk. Maybe I’m wrong. He has his warts.800+ yards/season, 10+ TDs over 2.5 seasons. The half season with garbage throwing to him. If he's not a low-end WR1 right now, he's not very far off.

Wouldn't say extremely hyperbolic. I was basically referring to him as the Bears WR1 target. Like... a big WR with speed, that makes for a big, legit target for Fields. I would argue that he instantly becomes the Bears' best WR, meaning he's their WR1.Calling Claypool a legit #1 is extremely hyperbolic.

I like the move, don't like the player. If Claypool can screw his head on straight he will be fine. I am actually very happy they flipped the 2nd for a WR. Just not the guy I'd have chosen. If KBS AND BWC are both shitting on this trade, chances are, it turns out just fine.
I'm skeptical of this move, particularly since they gave up their own 2nd. They gave up quite a bit more here than they got back for Roquan.
It’s objectively an over pay but receivers are hard to get
