If fields doesnt show something this year, they SHOULD move on. How many qbs in history ever stank for 2 seasons then became good? I dont think a single one.
Steve McNair, Mark Brunell, maybe Jeff George once he just became an old gunslinger with the Falcons and later the Vikings.

...and Drew Brees.

Mcnair wasnt even the starter until his third year. And brunell and george were never "good", if thats the ceiling for fields then they absolutely need to draft a QB. Brees might be the lone example, but he made it on another team.

Brees went to another team because the situation in San Diego was fairly hopeless, so it probably is the closest comparison here. If you're expecting Fields to be something like top 10 good, then yes, they should move on because he's not that. Even if he's projected to be something like Lamar Jackson, the Bears still have a long way to get a team around him close to that level of talent and Jackson isn't exactly scaring the AFC in the playoffs.

You cant win without a top 5-10 QB. You can make it to the Super Bowl without one but you're going to lose.

Two recent examples prove you wrong

Foles was far from top 10 QB, and Peyton Manning was toast when he won
Go through the history of Super Bowls and 80% of them were won by top 5-10 QBs of their era.
Before Manning you have to go all the way back to Trent Dilfer. It happens, but it's more of a fluke than anything else when it happens.

I think I actually went through every Super Bowl winner a few years ago and it was 77% wins by a top QB.

It's not impossible but you have to have a special D to get it done.

Foles may not have been a top 10 qb, but he had an great run that season. Same thing with the Flacco Ravens. The best way to get yourself high level qb play is to get a top 5-10 qb, but its not unheard of for a lesser guy to have a good stretch that he'll never match again.

Are you claiming Eli and Flacco were top 10 qbs?
