I can see the Bears going 8-9 this year based off schedule. Upset the Eagles and Lions at home and it's a 10-7 season.

Realistically, 5-12.

I want to believe, but at the same time, i think the preseason good vibes has clouded our brain. They have huge holes at key positions and a lot of questions across the roster. Id be less shocked at 3-14 than i would be at 9-8.

They have several guys who might be good but likely need a year or 2 of experience. (Looking at the O line, WR, defensive backfield).

They really need a pick bad enough so 1 of the top 2 QB’s is still on the board.
Can get a kings ransom when trading that pick.

With any luck, Pace will be a GM again by then too. Probably fleece his dumb ass for 3 firsts and a second

One of the best things that could happen to the Bears is that Fields takes a step, the defense sucks and they finish in the bottom 5 while being confident in Fields. Then, they could fleece another team in a trade for a QB.

The thing is, I don't see them being that bad unless their top defenders get hurt.

I still think they win somewhere between 4 to 8 games, closer to 8 if Fields takes a step forward.

If they're in a position to take a QB next year, they should think long and hard about doing it themselves, because it probably means Fields had a bad year.

You mean trade Fields or trade the pick?

If Fields struggles this year the Bears may very well go QB with that pick, so it is moot point potentially

This regime inherited Fields and if they dont feel he is guy they will move on after this year despite the price Bears paid to draft Fields

If fields doesnt show something this year, they SHOULD move on. How many qbs in history ever stank for 2 seasons then became good? I dont think a single one.

Steve Young was pretty terrible in TB

To be fair they were trainwreck of organization for a longtime and getting out of TB and ending up in SF was salvation for his career even if he did have to wait a few years for Montana injuries to open door for him to be #1

The QB drafted in 1st round to replace him (Vinny Testaverde) had his entire prime of his career wasted playing in TB

I don't trust the Bears talent evaluators to make a good decision on drafting a QB, tbqh.

Our hope is to land a good free agent or acquire a guy in a trade if and when we get good outside the QB position and Fields doesn't progress.

Young wasn’t bad n TB. I really wanted the Bears to trade for him when TB drafted Testaverde.

If Fields sucks, the Bears have to give up on drafting qb’s. This organization is simply inept at it.
