So much incompetence in Chicago sports. It's a miracle that there has even been one championship over the last 50 years with all 5 teams.

Like how in the hell has there been 12 championships combined? They don't deserve one between the 5 teams.

This is such an absolutely terrible take. It's not even worthy of an explanation as to why.

Even with the Yankees, they haven’t won a World Series in 12 years. Whatever ridiculous standard KBS is trying to use, even the most successful franchise in American sports has gone more than a decade without a championship.
They're in the playoffs on an almost annual basis.

I wouldn't even have dinged Krause or Bowman if they built teams that were just consistent playoff teams after their runs were over.

Everyone knew there was a reset needed after both the Bulls and Hawks championship runs. Neither GM was able to put together even a competitive team. Krause inherited Jordan and Bowman inherited 19/88.

The Cubs were mismanaged almost as badly as the Sox were the last two seasons from 2017 on.

I think part of what's being learned by this exercise is that winning a title is dumb luck more than anything else, from a team management standpoint.

These are weird points as if there's some city held connection.

It's always boggling to see people say oh this city doesn't deserve this level of mismanagement all across as if there's some city that has consistent great success.

Who in their power ever put together championships worthy teams multiple times in the nba? I don't think there's anybody who at all fits this standard of building a championship, tearing down and building solid teams after... These are standards that don't make sense. There is not team or city you can say is actually consistently there winning apart from wave of players to a new wave of players outside of the MLB and Yankees, who don't even have the success they should with their spending.
To answer your question, Jerry West was the architect of the 80s Lakers and was still GM when the Shaq/Kobe teams won their titles.

Anyways. Since this is bound to end up being another page or two of walking back another ridiculously stupid statement, let's get back to the Bears.

This coaching staff has shown me nothing. Granted, the talent is shit, but you aren't going to develop a QB having him throw 15-20 times a game, and never trusting him in tough situations. How about some max protect schemes to try and give him some time? How about some designed rollouts to take advantage of his athelticism? Meet the new coaches, the same as the old...

We shall see, but this looks like just more of the same incompetent Bears' bullshit. I hope I'm wrong.

Also, it sure seems like the NFL has a huge problem across the board with coaches who try and fit a QB into a scheme they may not necessarily thrive in, as opposed to designing a scheme that fits your QB...

Their redzone playcalling is enough for me. Its the same conservative playing not to lose football Ive watched the bears play almost my entire life. Its boring as hell and ends in mediocrity.

I don't even think it's just the red zone, for me personally. It's all across the board on offense. Way too much predictability. No creativity. No "go for it" attitude up and down the offense. There's absolutely nothing to lose this season. Expectations are nil. The conservative gameplan in general makes ZERO sense. Experiment. Be aggressive. Go for it. Losing by 8 instead of 14 doesn't impress anyone.

And for f***'s sake, try and develop your QB. Let him throw a bunch. See what he's got. Handing the ball off as much as they do shows nobody anything when it comes to evaluating Fields.

‘‘We just need everybody to do their job,’’ Fields said of the Bears’ balky offense.

That would include general manager Ryan Poles.

Another hit to Bears’ offensive line as LG Cody Whitehair exits Giants game with knee injury
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — Little has gone according to the Bears’ plan on the offensive line this season, and that’s a problem when the plan was shaky from the start.

Early on, I'd take Nagy/Pace over Eberflus/Poles.

Pace's draft picks showed more flashes as rookies.

Eberflus must still have an ear toward Indy since the Colts were hoping to stash Weatherford on their practice squad. They really liked him but apparently he's not a special teams guy and they need their bottom of the roster to be special teams players since their kickoff specialist is out for the season.

Apparently, the word on Leatherwood is that he hasn't developed much, not quick enough to play tackle, not big enough to play guard, and has trouble with snap counts? Good luck with that.
Same here. He seemed like he knew what he was doing for a season then like halfway through year two the doubts started to really hit. Guy couldnt get out of his own way.

It's early, but Poles 1st draft looks pretty terrible.
...you're being quite again a random leaper to conclusions.

Paces 1st draft had only Goldman & Amos play good. Brisket certainly doesn't look worse than Amos. You had some flashes from Robinson. Jones doesn't look great but a rookie LT. Ebner is no lower than Langford.

There just is no rational to a random statement you threw out again

The only fluky championship in chicago during the time period he's talking about was the Sox' and even they managed to win 90 games the following year.

Guillen's sox were hardly fluke

It was highly competitive era for club in which they were usually competitively in AL Central race

2004 = 83-79 (9 GB)
2005 = 99-63 (Won AL Central + World Series)
2006 = 90-72 (6 GB)
2007 = 72-90 (24 GB)
2008 = 89-74 (Won AL Central)
2009 = 79-83 (7.5 GB)
2010 = 88-74 (6 GB)
2011 = 79-83 (16 GB)

Both in 2006 and 2010 they were in playoff race well into end of year

I mean outside of 2007 you can't really say Guillen Sox were ever really awful and that year had a host of issues for team

I'm not even saying Pace/Nagy were good. They were terrible. There's a possibility that the new regime is even worse.

Anyway, it's way too early to draw any conclusions but I don't like what I've seen so far.

I'd put the over/under at about 5 games before you're saying Luke Richardson was a bad hire. And this will be with the full knowledge of knowing the Blackhawks have one of the worst rosters in the NHL.

Poles has been on the job about 9 months, Eberflus less than that. The Bears roster stinks and has more new faces than any other NFL team. They have one of the cheapest WR cores and youngest starting O-lines. Fields play is certainly part of the problem simple because he seems afraid he might make a mistake throwing the ball. Yet I think their D-line is main problem; no run defense and little QB pressures. Give it time.

Between the draft and free agency, the bears probably need to come away with 7-8 starters for next season

I knew the Bears were bad. Their roster sucks.

I'm evaluating Poles on his draft class/FA signings only and Eberflus/Getsy on their coaching decisions.

Eberflus/Getsy are running it like a HS team.

I put in the caveat that it was way early and too soon to make conclusions but early returns suck.

There's still plenty of time for the rookies to get better and there's still time for Eberflus/Getsy to learn from their mistakes.

Teven Jenkins is their best OL and they bench him. Al-Qadin Muhammad is their worst DE and they give him starter reps in the DL rotation.

They're way too damn conservative when they're trying to figure out if Fields is any good. Let him throw the damn ball.

I liked the Gordon pick but he looks terrible so far.

Idk how you guys all think I'm definitively saying the new regime sucks when all I'm talking about are early returns.

I knew theyd be bad, but theyre bad but its like eberflus refuses to admit it so they play ultra conservatively and hope their opponents mess up to give them a chance to win. It makes them very boring to watch and isnt letting us see fields really at all. Almost leads me to believe Poles decided fields wasnt the longterm answer a long time ago but knew he didnt have a way to get a qb yet and they are playing so conservatively because they dont want a Trestman-esque meltdown that ruins the morale and chemistry of the team.

Problem with that is, winning only hurts your chances at getting a replacement for Fields.... So it doesn't really compute.
