I think a conclusion that one could make is, it seems like Fields is struggling greatly with the mental part of being an NFL QB. That doesn't mean he cant improve, but a lot of guys don't. I can't say I disagree with KBS here.

Context is needed for that to mean anything. If the primary read is to throw a 10-yard out route to the left sideline, it doesn't matter that the receiver on the far right side of the field got by his man while running a go route that couldn't possibly be completed by anyone without an absolute cannon of an arm--OR--that the far right side receiver had a quick moment of separation on a short route well before any QB would have progressed to checking that side of the field.
Fields LOOKED RIGHT AT ESB when he was open, streaking down the right side. I don't give a DAMN what the play call was.

That logic would be like a point me going to chip it down the wall, sees a WIDE OPEN teammate for a backdoor tap in...and chips it down the wall.

BAD PLAY

If Fields can only be or needs to be that mechanical he will not be a top flight QB. You take what the defense gives you (in all sports) not just what was drawn up before the play developed.

I get that.... but admittedly even as more of a casual Bears fan, I've kinda come to not expect hopeful things from them, least of all QB scouting, development, and gameplanning.

FTR I wanted Mac Jones if Bears were going QB

He was sitting there and we wouldn't have had to give away 2022 1st Rounder on top of it

Jones has had no issue stepping into #1 job in NE and thriving with questionable OL and offensive talent around him (Pats dont have any big talent at WR/RB)

If I recall correctly many here did not think highly of Jones but I liked him

I also suggested drafting Davis Mills if the team didn't want to use a 1st on QB and look at Mills now. Establishing himself as a #1 and outplaying Fields

Mac Jones is nothing special at all. Trading up for fields was dumb, but its the exact type of thing that happens when you let a terrible gm run your team for 7 or 8 years.
Mac Jones and Davis Mills ceiling isn't even peak Dalton.

I was against allowing Pace to draft a QB, since it was obvious that he and Nagy were getting whacked after last season. That is something that should have come from George McCaskey, though they would have probably used the 20th pick on Jenkins.

How so about them not being peak dalton?

Jones went 15. Bears without a trade up weren’t picking to 20.

Mills and Jones both suck.

True, do you think they’re being that intellectually dishonest with their tape analysis though?

Forgot about that

Still would have rather had Jones and trading up to grab him at #14 should have been a little less costly

Mills and Jones both suck.

Jones far from Sucks and Mills has shown far more then Fields and several others of draft

Honestly, to me it looks like most of the QB's in that draft will bust. Trevor Lawrence is the best shot, but the Bears were never going to get up to #1.

Lawrence was the only one of the 2021 1st round QBs that I would have taken in the 1st round. I thought he was worthy of the 1st overall pick.

NFL teams used to be more disciplined about taking QBs where they deserved to be taken. All of the other teams that took a QB convinced themselves that those guys were 1st rounders. No more moving QBs up a round because of their position. If they're 2nd or 3rd rounders, stick to your board. There were seasons where one or zero QBs were taken in the first round. That rarely happens anymore.

The Amazon Thursday Night Football branding is so terrible. Looks like something from a mid-2000s non-Madden football video game.

In market Steeler fan I guess this Thursday night prime isn’t very popular? I figured there would be a few comments during the game.
