Do you know what the word “literally” means?
Fields development (and ability to not get killed) is, I agree crucial.
However
we need a few keepers on the OL.
We need a few WR to be keepers.
Hell, we need a few guys to grow into keepers at nearly every position.

There will be cap room to fill a few holes next year but a lot of the future better already be here and learning the ropes or next year you’re back to step one.
Yes, I know what the word means.
If Fields doesn't progress, none of those things really matter.

Idk how you could say he was anything but in the 1st half. 2nd half was much better. Overall not up to snuff though. I said I gave him a pass for weather related reasons. It's hard to play QB in a monsoon. That INT sticks out like a sore thumb and was very cringey. Inexcusable at this point.

It seemed like he was having a hard time gripping the ball in the rain.
STOP MAKING BLANKET STATEMENTS THAT YOU HAVE TO THEN CLARIFY LATER. It's really not that f***ing hard man.

"Fields looked bad" is what you said.

By your own assessment Fields progressed during the game. Abysmal first half, better second half. Surely you realize progress and development are not linear. There will be ups and downs along the way. It's silly to focus on a low point (e.g. interception, half performance) when this is going to be a season long process, especially with limited help at WR and a new coaching staff. Your expectations are ridiculous at times.

Actually yes they do very much matter. If both lines are getting it done. Receivers are diving for (and catching) poorly thrown passes. The DBacks are covering well and Fields is continually sucking
. That leaves 1 hole to fill with that high 1st next year. Either by drafting or trading it. And that guy can do the job without fearing for his life in the pocket or thinking he has to score 35 to cover for weak D.

I’m not even going to try an explain it to you further. You need to comprehend the concept of team sports to understand.

Tagging onto that “concept of team sports” thing.
Cudo’s to Fields, not for anything that happened yesterday but for his remarks during the week about making sure Jones (6th rd pick playing left tackle) has a short memory WHEN he gets beat.
It’s fields ass Jones is to protect. Fields basically admitting he knows he’s gonna take some hits while the kid plays his 1st game against a great edge rusher and telling the kid, don’t let it get you down but learn from it.
To me, that’s leadership.

IIRC, Bosa did apply a lot of pressure but only 1 sack. The kid did alright in his 1st NFL game.

And yet you sit here and say the INT is inexcusable, and that he was terrible in the first half? Your posting is beyond confusing. I'm at a point where I need to just ignore everything you say.

While Football is a team sport, the QB position is the most important by far and if you don't have one the rest of the team is basically irrelevant. Football is a team sport with regard for QBs in the same way Basketball is a team sport. One player at one position has an overwhelming influence on the results of competition.

Taking anything away from the Bears game other than a W is funny. Those playing conditions were abysmal.

Sunday night Chicago will get punched in the face.

After his rookie wideout dropped the ball KAREN Rogers spent the rest of the game complaining to the manager.

Yeah, it was a baffling decision.

But let's take the nerd math out of the game and go with your gut.

Your team just went of its way to acquire a supposedly superstar quarterback. You have multiple time outs to spare. And you only have a 4th and 5ish ahead of you. All that versus a monster field goal attempt.

Sorry, that's a situation you go for it on unless you have Justin Tucker on your sideline.

Serious question:
Do I need to stop comparing young QBs to guys like Brady, Mahomes, and Rodgers and instead compare them to league average guys like Cousins?

Maybe I've been too harsh on Fields (and Trubisky for that matter)
