McCarthy certainly isn't the worst choice they can make. But he's had stacked rosters nearly his entire coaching career that has certainly inflated his coaching record.

Stop being cheap and hire Ben Johnson.

Bleacher Report said McCarthy averaged $8m per year and "at least 10 other coaches were making $9m or more."

That said, I don't have a clue what the top coaching candidate is going to get especially when he has a small bidding war.

Quite honestly, I'm not sure it even matters.

  • One site 'frontofficesports' has listed a few new head coach salaries and, to no surprise, there was a huge difference. According to the site Jim Harbaugh (SD) made $16 mil/yr while, D Quinn (Was) made $4.5mil and R Morris (Atl) $4.0 mil. Reid tops the 2024 salary list at $20 mil while D Campbell and S McDermott are at $11 mil. You'd think McCarthy would expect $12+ mil and B Johnson just under that. note - I did not look for salaries listed anywhere else

Normally I'd agree. But the rumors are out there that the Raiders are going to offer Ben Johnson massive money.

Can’t blame the guy for taking the bag if it’s offered, but that’s just a shit spot with the Raiders now. Makes even less sense when Johnson’s scheme needs a QB and they don’t have one or the pick to get one.

Say he does go there, then what… sign Cousins? Yuck.

This is an outstanding article by Kalyn Kahler. The Bears are getting ripped apart for it (as they should) with the Trace Armstrong connections all throughout.

It makes me wonder whether Warren is one of the good guys in all of this. Someone who is overseeing the search to make sure the best candidate is selected, and agent representation is not a factor. Ben Johnson for example is NOT a Trace client.

His agent has Chicago ties too.

For the record Mike McCarthy also isn't a Trace Armstrong client...... anymore. He switched from Armstrong to Don Yee.

I think it’s definitely a story but it’s like saying Boras clients play together. There are so many clients.
I don't find the article particularly earth shattering. People tend to hire people they're familiar with more so than those they're not familiar with. Agents have a bunch of clients and likely have events which allows their clients to become more familiar with each other. So when one of the agent's client gets a supervisory position, they're more likely to hire one other of the agents clients. Bears problem is that maybe they shouldn't be so quick to pick an Armstrong client because his pool hasn't been very good as of late.

I am beyond sick of the Chiefs. Goddamn will someone please beat them?

I believe they can interview (and hire) him in person as soon as Monday if they lose tonight.

Not sure if they fulfilled the Rooney rule yet...depends on if Flores' interview today is in person or not.

Wife is from Michigan so would like
For Lions to win for her and the fam, but…I kinda want Detroit to lose tonite so the Bears can just get this shit done one way or the other

Texans aren't much better than the Bears IMO

Are my eyes bad or does Kelce run like a lineman? I know he's crafty but my god, their has to be ways for Kmet to do something like he does.

Texans defense is waaaaaaaaay better.

Kmet can’t break a tackle but it doesn’t matter because they never throw him the ball anyway. Kelce is painfully slow now but he can somehow still break tackles.
