I'd take Carroll over alot of the candidates mentioned recently. Vrabel is still my first choice though. Get someone younger even if Carroll acts way younger than his age.

I don’t want Vrabel because I don’t trust them to get the right OC.

I’d rather they just got with an offensive guy as the HC

Lukewarm take: if Trubisky had been slightly better than a total pumpkin, Nagy would be viewed as far and away the best Bears HC since Lovie, and grabbing an OC without HC experience would not have been viewed as controversial by Bears media/fans.

Especially when the freaking Packers AND Vikings hired a young OC without previous HC experience in the last 5 years and they both seem likely absolute slam dunks so far.

Ben Johnson is on a whole other level in terms of being proven than Nagy, so don't take it as those two being comparable candidates.

It seems so odd that the Steelers don't use Fields as a gadget guy. They ran a 3rd and short with cordelle Patterson up the mid.

Fields is injured. Not out, but I don't think he'll see the field barring something very unexpected happening.

Fields should become Taysom Hill 2.0 and he could have a nice long career making millions.

What he lacks in pass catching ability he makes up as a better runner, although he's such an incredible athlete I'm sure he could catch a ball off a basic route.

Carroll is just name chasing at this point. He's old and clearly over the hump. So a perfect Bears hire.

Ben Johnson isn't Nagy 2.0 but what he does similar to Nagy is the constant gimmick plays. What I dont like about him is I believe he'll get exposed because the Lions O-Line is arguably the best in the league, if not top 3 for him to call plays. The Bears have nowhere near that.

I don't see it with the gimmick plays being constant. It's every so often, but most of the time it's just a dominant offense which is disgustingly well schemed. Hats on hats all over the place, just smart scheming.

The O-line is a bit of a worry, but it wasn't a top 3 O-line in the league in 2022, his first year as the OC, when they threw for 4200 yards and added 2200 more on the ground.

I also think he understands the value of a good O-line. Vrabel has already gone through one tenure as HC where his O-line ultimately became one of the worst in the league.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that this is not what Houston hoped to see after they clearly went all in in the off season. Turned a 5-1 start into probably finishing 10-7. It's not 4-2 -> 4-13 bad, but it sure isn't good.

Stroud is having a pretty bad season. Slowik is no longer a hot name for the HC cycle, and that OL looks spotty. And they have little to no cap space to work with to reinforce the team.

Yeah I've always liked Pete Carroll. If only he were a bit younger, he might be the exception to a rule I think the Bears need to employ: They must hire an offensive coach.

This whole thing hangs on Caleb developing correctly. He's shown a ton of positives this year. And he's also shown some vulnerabilities. At times maybe it's appeared he is slow in processing defenses, or inconsistent accuracy downfield. He's a rookie and these things are expected.

It will be interesting how Detroit handles their offense going forward, if Ben Johnson does leave. That's one of the reasons you want an offensive coach. Because if an OC does well, he will bolt for a head coaching job. Where if you hire the guy who runs the offense as your head coach, he's not going anywhere if he succeeds.

Yep. The numbers are bad but Stroud looks bad too.

It is hard for me to see a scenario in which CW regresses next year, but time will tell.

• Eberflus was one of the worst coaching staffs of all time
• 3 different OCs this year
• below average offensive line
• Keenan Allen has dropped roughly 92 passes this year

Virtually any coaching staff will be an improvement and it's likely they're here for the full season so there will be stability along with them.

Any investment in the offensive line should also improve it.

ALlen's targets being spread to Odunze and Moore and maybe even Kmet if the next HC/OC realizes you can indeed throw to your TE is probably a net positive as well.
