This is a bad take. Miller played a really good game but not perfect.

Yeah, except he didn't.

I'm not saying he's bad. I really like Miller. I'm saying he had an objectively rough game defensively. When you're a defenseman I don't really care if you scored a shootout goal, he objectively hurt the team with multiple big defensive gaffes

Honestly, yeah, when he left the ice I assumed (I think like most) that it was over for him for the game. We've seen goalies leave several times now under that circumstance and it always feels like it takes 15 minutes or more to get a guy back out there. I was shocked when he came back out.

Really I'm not sure the Rangers want to be accused of delay tactics so they could rush their star goaltender through the protocol as fast as possible. Whatever. It worked out. Whether Gallant is being coy or whether he was being sincere, I don't have a problem with either.

Did you see Ramsey being "questioned" by one of the refs and the response they got from our doctor? Clearly the ref was trying to question the amount of time it took JR to examine Shesterkin for him to be able to return so quickly and Ramsey (if you can read lips) would have no more of that nonsense.

This is random but I am 95% sure Peter Chiarelli was sitting in the section over from me last night. No idea why he’d be there but it def looked like him.

Loved the 3rd line last night. Gauthier has that slippery stick which stops him from finishing. I would try Barron Chytil Gauthier. Move Hunt to 4th line and oust Mckegg and see what happens. Barron has scored at all levels which that group needs.
They certainly owned the Bruin boards lat night . Gauthier and his size/speed forced them to rush passes and cough them up . He just has to play physical every game . I forget which Bruin attempted to hit him but it was the Bruin that landed on his ass . We can't add him as a throw in on a trade ....he still has value on a club like ours that is not overly speedy and or physical up front . I think he needs a 3-5 year deal to give him some added confidence and assurances he will be around for a stretch . If we don't....some other club will . Kid is only 25 in October and is 6ft 4 and almost 230 pounds and fast . Where else can you find a bottom 6 guy like that and cheap ?? You just can't .

I hope it does happen again. I mean, credit for the apology, he's a nice kid, but I loved it.

As cantankerous as I am sometimes, I f***ing care about this. I love seeing that passion matched on the ice.

Saw that from a number of guys last night and I thought we really stepped up to a game against a big-name team after the layoff. For all their flaws, this team has a pair of nuts, I'll give them that.

I didn't see that but I'm not surprised. This is what I was saying where it would be in the team's interest to deny having any intent to stall, because you don't want the perception that you're stalling and rushing a guy through concussion protocols. I mean I have total faith in JR and the team doctors (whoever handles the protocol testing) that everything was above board, but you still don't want the league scrutinizing you if you can avoid it by simply saying, "nah, not the case."

I love it when guys lose their shit. As a fan, you're feeling so f***ing angry at times, and it's cathartic to see one of the guys on the ice/field/pitch/whatever act the way you're feeling.

Hank throwing the net against Pittsburgh is still a favorite of mine.

That ref was an ass. Like Will Smith says in Men in Black, "don't start nuttin' won't be nuttin'"

Miller is a big guy who isn’t physical. That irks a large subsection of the fanbase.

I agree. No doubt he needs to develop some more confidence in his physicality.

At 22, there is room for growth - the usual patience factor with fans.

He still plays the position very well, as a top 4 on a top 5 defense in the league. And potting some big timely goals to boot.

While we are handing out medals.....I have to say that Gauthier played really good along the boards last night . For what he makes....I think they better keep him around . He was also a bit more physical than usual . If Gallant can get into this guy's head over the next 30 +....he might be a forechecking monster in the playoffs ....beast mode physically ! He has the physical gifts of size and speed and I know he won't probably ever break single digits in goals....but on the bottom six...he could be a fixture and a cheap one at that and we will need them.

That line had the best sustained forecheck pressure last night. I had a feeling that the line would do well; I kind of alluded to it at the beginning of the GDT. Because of their cycle play, Gauthier had the puck on his backhand more last night than in all of his previous games combined. Hunt helps the line with puck protection and retrieval even if he isn't able to make impactful plays, but by doing so, he opens up space for Chytil and Gauthier. Both of them just need to keep their cycle game simple like last night, go back to the point for point shots, shoot when they get a chance, don't try to dangle into the middle areas, don't try the east-west and diagonal stuff like the top two lines. The chances will come when the D isn't able to keep up with the cycle.

Gallant looking foolish is part of his master plan. He’s not clueless. He knows exactly what he’s doing.
Exactly! I mean, who calls a TO prior to the shootout? Gotta believe someone was there with protocol testing with a relay to staff behind bench to "bide some time". Jeez, anyone calling out Turk for comment on "not thinking about that" is clueless. Everything is not on the venir. Actually pretty brilliant playing dumb......what was he supposed to say? Playing dumb is one of my greatest gifts. Works towards your advantage most times.

I thought the game was pretty decent by the Rangers outside of the first 10 minutes of the first period. Even though they didn't get a lot of shots in that period overall they started controlling the puck more. I'd like to see more goals but 34 shots overall is pretty good with the way they've been going

sure igor bailed them out a few times but so did swayman for boston so eh

I know to us it looks like Igor is the front runner for the Vezina but as of last week Freddy Andersen was leading the league in Wins gaa and sv %. He keeps that up they’ll start talking about a “triple crown” and then any other stats won’t mean much, imo. Hope I’m wrong…

I don't know exactly what goes in to the Vezina consideration, but Shesterkin has had a much bigger impact on the Rangers than Andersen has had on the Canes. Without Freddy, the Canes still win and their backup does well.

Without Shesty, we have a significantly worse record. We live and die by his performance, and I hope that's something that is considered.

Shesty is .01 behind on GAA and way ahead on Save%

GSAA is not close.

Yeah, I don't think it's skating. He's not Pavel Bure, but he's not a helpless skater. It's mental. Either bad positioning or lack of confidence with the puck.

This in spades - once he starts putting it together he's going to start reacting rather than trying to think and make choices. (the latter you simply don't have time for usually)

I find he still tries to defer to veterans when he has the puck. That puts him into the scenario of always looking to dish the puck on a pass when that option is clearly not there, (this is when his feet will stop moving) rather than react to claim open space and create options.

This is lost on so many people. He toys with the media very well, similar to Torts but not in the same way/delivery. I do like that's he's been stern at times when needed as well.

I have 0 complaints with Gallant. 0.

I can't like this enough. I f***ing love Turk. He likes to play it off as if he's just this humble former NHLer, but man does he get it. Not only that, he's got the squad's back, and I guarantee the guys love him. He seems like the kinda guy you want to battle for. I like that he's part old school and part new school in his take on how to play. All-finesse teams win President's trophy's. Heavy, hard-nosed teams with some skill win Stanley Cups.

Knew Boston would give us fits, but we hung in there. Gutsy win. Looks like Boston keyed on keeping our top two lines off the board. Which might be why our 3rd and 4th lines were able to apply some offensive pressure. Reavo came out flying off the break. 8 hits and got the first shot on net in the game, 12 minutes in. 3rd line cycled well keeping control in the O zone. 4th line not so much but got some chances. It was great to see,... even when our top lines are kept in check, we still pull out the win.

So he should shed light on an already curious refs wondering how he came back so quick. Yea, the head coach should publicly come out and say he called a timeout to run his goalie through the test at hyper speed lmao.
Yeah. Maybe GG actually was thinking about Igor’s wellness and didn’t think rushing the diagnostic process was a priority. What a dope!

We were watching two separate games if you honestly are sitting there and saying Miller was putrid tonight. Wow.
I saw a number of clever plays where he used short back passes. Even one to himself I think, to maintain possession. Plays that are unusual and stand out. He seems to me to be developing very fast.
