Grush has really stepped up his physical game this preseason, he had a few bigger hits in the AHL last year, but nothing like this. More motivation? More comfortable as a pro? More comfortable on NA ice?

Team looks fresh. Trading all the UFAs and shifting focus to restocking the cupboards has changed the vibe of the roster. It's how it should be when entering year 2 of a rebuild. Things were really ugly this time last year

Not every night you get to beat the Oilers twice :thumbu:

Obviously doesn't mean a ton but I don't think the cupboards are as bare for this team as many pundits make them out to be.
Flames might not have a franchise prospect, but their prospect pool depth is easily in the top 10 if not top 5 league-wide. There's so many players in the pool who looks to at least see some NHL games in the future. Let's hope in the next two drafts we can get at least one franchise defining prospect.

Loving Coronato and Honzek looking solid to start this preseason. What does Honzek have to do to make this team?
Assuming Honzek starts the year in the AHL (which he likely does), I wouldn't be surprised if he gets about 10-15 games in the NHL this year if he can keep up the hard work and good looks that he's shown that last few games. His biggest issue was being injured like 3/4 of last season, and the fact that he's lanky so he'll likely need another year or two to properly grow into his body and put on the right weight.

I never thought our cupboards were bare, especially after the trades last season. No high end guys, but we have a good amount of prospects who will likely make the NHL, even if it is in middle 6/bottom 9 roles, or bottom 4 D roles.

Getting the boys ready for the season. They amount Edmonton plays these two, Connor and Leon is absurd. By the finals last year those guys just didn't have the give to get across the finish line. Last year Edmonton was really lucky on the injury front... but like, you play four guys 25+ a night every night to win hard games, it catches up with you eventually. It's not wishing injury, it's just the nature of the sport.

The Flames should curtail Cooley's media availability. If he becomes more likeable, Wolf might sour on the organization

Haha the posts you have are probably the dumbest on this entire site.

Sam Bennett, Nikita Zadorov, examples of flames players that recently demanded trades because of lack of opportunity.

Mike Futa was on Calgary radio this week basically said that if the Flames send down Wolf because of waiver status that he’s going to be pissed. And rightfully so. Vladar has been ass for two seasons and Devin Cooley has “sucked” according to himself. A few preseason games should have no effect on that. Wolf has been the better goalie by a huge margin and deserves his chance.

For sure Wolf is the starter, but even if he plays 82 games, if his backup becomes a fan favorite, he might just sour on the whole situation. Conroy needs to be cognizant of this. Would you not agree?

Wolf will be upset because Cooley is personable and people like that?

Get out of here. That's a long shot straw that breaks the camel's back at best. It'd be many other reasons that cause him to be upset before he considers Cooley being a likeable guy is a reason that pisses him off.

He might look over at Cooley getting laughs in the scrum, or people reposting on IG, and think that management actually thinks Cooley is better, even if Wolf is starting the majority. He might ask for a trade.
