Barrie Colts 2024 - 25 Season Thread, Part I

Pretty happy with the team we have and not worth adding more with the prices. As mentioned above hopefully they can get healthy as soon as possible. I think with the deadline over we will see a much more focused effort Saturday at home against Kitchener.

I'd say Colts likely done as well. Lets hope Beaudoin and Romani get healthy soon and Marty figures out some line combos that can work in the meantime.

Pretty sure he’ll be the 13/14th forward they have him Black and Martin that could all fill into the 4th line in case of injuries

Colts need to get healthy. Also when we're this short on players lines need to be stacked, don't put #91 with #28 and #53, it kills the line. Then you have 71 with 85 and 25.

For what it's worth I thought 74 looked good tonight, it's the first time I've seen him play live.

86 looks lost out there, the WJHC may have rattled his confidence.

Sorry not much good to say after that game. The rangers played a sound defensive game. They bullied the colts with size and physicality. Colts have some work to do.

Yep Marty’s defensive style of game doesn’t work when your chasing the game every single night when your down 1 or 2 after 1. Team needs Romani and Beaudoin yes but need to look better with a short lineup. I agree Derbidge had a few good games but definitely can’t have him play top 9. I think the last 3 nights have shown that the colts can’t afford to have injuries to the top 9 cause the depth isn’t good enough. Wish we could get more outta hemming too u can tell he has the skill just can’t get anything going and gets dominated physically at times. Akey looks lost out there trying to do too much but I’m confident he’ll find his game. Need to turn it around soon enough to at least finish top 4 in the conference and get home ice in round 1.

Nice to see PV94 has more goals than OVS & AR combined so far! I'm sure flood gates will open at some point for the NB connection but we gave up a good one to the Batallion for sure.

Not too worried with our play of late. Team needs time to gel, especially since we have so many new players and several of our players have been off for one reason or another (injury and world Jrs.). Give this team a week with a full lineup and we're all going to see a team that's going to make a run in the playoffs.

Marty's too good of a coach not to "right this ship" with the talent he has.

I agree the team needs time to gel and that there has been a lot of disruption over the past 6 weeks. All I'm saying is that Vaughan was a big price to pay for what I'm seeing out of OVS. Hopefully Romani is able to find his legs, he has only played 6 games and hasn't played for over three months. Wigle was also awesome for us last season in the playoffs against the Generals and has been great all year. I know he's not that offensive but he has been very reliable in all situations. I'm just not sold that this was a great deal for the Colts...sometimes the best deal for you is the one you didn't make...Time will tell.

It was a good trade I think. An OA season for Romani helps.

Yes was just looking at the 05's...could have a fantastic group of OA's next season. I could see Gardiner & even perhaps Bertucci come back as well which would force a big trade decision with Hilledebrandt most likely in the mix as well.

If Hemming/Beaudoin are both back and Patterson will for sure be back the team still looks really strong at the top end anyway. Hard to say whether Dallas wants Hemming in the A or the O next season, I think he could use another year in the O personally.

Ya, hopefully Romani comes out in game shape and hope the boys can put it together when it counts in March/April.

Gardiner will be back I think don’t think Bertucci or akey will be as they’re signed . I’d be shocked if Beaudoin isn’t back. Romani isn’t signed and may not sign till during his OA year cause he was just drafted in 2024 and with the injury Vancouver may want a full OA year of him before going pro. Hillebrandt should be back which would mean u would probs have to trade one of him or Hrebik just to get another player to add to the depth. Hemming may be back if not they can hopefully draft a guy to replace him in the import as he hasn’t been a stud so far so won’t be too much to replace and I think Eliasson will be back more than likely. The big question will be William Moore reporting or not. On elite prospects it says Boston college 26-27 so next year he doenst have a team if Barrie got him to commit that would be incredible. If u had Moore commit u could have a forward group next year of

Then if u trade one of the goalies u can get a decent forward to round out the top 9 and potentially upgrade tiller for a 3rd OA spot if they move Hillebrandt and this team doesn’t look all too bad and u still got a first round pick to draft. Long ways away from next year and what could potentially happen but im still excited for this year and what this team can do once fully healthy and once the team really starts clicking. Better to be going through tough times now then in the playoffs adversity now isn’t always a bad thing.
