My guess would be:

OVS-Wakely-Romani
Jelsma-Beaudoin-Patterson
Stewart-Gardiner-Hemming
Lowe-Newton-Derbidge/Bowen

Aitcheson-Bertucci
Eliasson-Akey
Tiller-Passmore

Extra: Handsor

Hillebrandt
Hrebik

Wouldn’t mind seeing them add another depth defensemen in case of injuries. Other than that this team is loaded.

I agree with that lineup but I’d flip Stewart and Jelsma to give that line of Gardiner and hemming a stud like Jelsma. That’s 3 lines that will be tough for any team to line match against

A lot of people think Barrie has closed their window after this year and I don’t see that I think Romani has a decent chance to play his OA season as a 6th round pick and because of his injury this year. Barrie will have one of the best 06 groups in the league next year with good goalies and 2 good imports with potentially having Romani and Gardiner as OA’s next season. Anyways that’s next years problem i think this colts team can really do big damage and I don’t think Marty is done yet I think he’ll add a depth D doesn’t have to be great but someone with experience in the OHL in case of injury

Got to feel for Wigle! Gave his heart and soul to Barrie playing over 175 games in his four years only to get dealt for a player equal to him OVS. Classless move on Williamson IMO. Getting Romani no issue but swapping OA's when the guy was there since he broke into the league. No loyalty!

WJ
Shit happens all the time WJ. Wigle knew it was coming from the beginning of the season.

In what world is Wigle the same as OVS? OVS had more goals last year than Wigle does in his entire career, plus there's built in chemistry since they have the same full NB line with Wakely.

On a personal level I agree it absolutely sucks for Wigle, but as unfortunate as it is - success will always trump loyalty at any level of sports.

He’s just a salty Sudbury fan who obviously has no appreciation for what OVS brings to the table. You’d figure he’d understand after watching OVS and North Bay teams feed them their lunch for the past 3 seasons.

Really like this trade. You have great chemistry and familiarity right off the bat and it didn't cost any 2nds. Sounds like Romani should be about a week away from returning and has been skating for a while. Vaughan is going to be a very good player in this league and Wigle has been a good Colt for years. Wish them both luck in their future. Hopefully us Colts fans can wake up the library that is Sadlon arena in the second half and playoffs. OVS-Wakely-Romani are used to a loud barn for the playoffs.

Yes I agree a great trade I know most if not all the picks in the trade are conditional so I’m sure not what the conditions are if they get better the deeper the playoff run or get better if Romani plays his OA year in Barrie next season anyways looks to look forward too

Personally I don’t think Barrie is done yet I think forwards and goalies are set but I don’t know if defence is Marty may wanna get a guy that will really sure up the back end. I wonder if Marty would look for a guy like Mitch young in sarnia. Big strong kid that plays physical and has some offence to his game. Barrie has its 2nd and 3rd round picks this year I wonder if they try to include those picks maybe an extra pick in the 5th or something or a prospect like a Handsor along with tiller and see how close they can get to a deal. Young is a 05 and he would be a prime OA guy next year.
Aitcheson Bertucci
Young Akey
Eilasson Passmore

That top 6 is better than anyone in the league and u include that with the top 9 forwards and 2 goalies this team would be a wagon.

A great move by the Colts, they have now elevated themselves to a very serious contending team for the league's top of the east conference championship. At a big cost, mind you, losing Parker Vaughan will be big for some years, but well worth it, for this year-long reachable goal of reaching the league finals. Could they beat the west, it will be interesting and only time will tell, but with these acquisitions they have giving themselves a big fighting chance

Best roster in the OHL I think.

I’d say they are on par with London now. Let’s see if London counters with Luchanko.

That would need to be a VERY creative trade. I doubt Hawery is going to move so what would that package even look like? Knights have one 2nd round pick and very underwhelming ‘07s. It would need to include Hawery, no?

You have to think that there are better options for Guelph out there than London.

London doesn't need more offense, to get luchanko would be an overkill and most disruptive to their team chemistry. They have all they need, older, lots of playoffs experience, firepower, great goal tending and are one of the top team defensively, there are nothing to add to this team

He’s was an absolute crazy Knights fan growing up and he does have a NTC, so he can dictate where he goes too.

There could be better trade packages out there, but if you were a 67’s fan and they were one of the best 67’s team in 20 years, would you not want to dictate that you wanna get traded to the 67’s?

The chemistry will be fine. Luchanko already plays a Knights style so the fit and chemistry would be seamless. Luchanko already has hockey IQ, speed, skill, he backchecks and he has vision and a good playmaker. All things Dale will ask of him already.

I think Luchanko would fit with the knights; and I agree it would be overkill, similar to Barrie adding another defenseman.

This is what Windsor said 3 years ago when they went and got Shane Wright, "this team chemistry will be fine"

In theory, maybe but a GM would be doing a disservice to his team if he allowed a NTC clause to effectively chop the trade value in half or worse. It sets a precedent. It would be strategically better to keep the player and forego the return in order to maintain respect in the league for future trades and players holding NTC’s.

There is also a courtesy offered by reputable GM’s that when these sorts of issues arise, the GM of the receiving team does offer a comparable deal to market value otherwise they simply decline which allows the holding team to make an alternate appropriate deal.
