I guess when the refs were discussing weather or not that was a too many men penalty they came to the conclusion that the jets weren't playing good enough to deserve a powerplay

Refs were working on a Jets shut out - they were not going to let a "too many men" ruin it

Actually Maurice explained it and it did make sense ... watch it on page 2 of game thread skip the first 17 mins.
The Avs used it in their Cup years with Sakic and Forberg and so did the Penguin with Crosby and Malkin.
You have a number 1 and 2 center playing their regular shift and then one of them center the fourth line during the game because top centers need their minutes especially if you have 3 good lines. The bad news is Maurice said he is still learning it ... ouch.

I honestly believe the NHL told the refs to keep this game close. The Jets played bad but I’m not exaggerating when I type that was one of the worst officiated games in recent memory.

Either the Jets need to play better or the coaches need to coach better but make no mistaking the gaf level on this team is missing and the coaching is inadequate and has been for years

Scheifele is a top 10 center and PLD is getting there but Maurice did say those two Scheifele/PLD are not quite there.

Bad game by the Jets but wow, those Refs were just awful.

It's ok to trip a player on break.
It's ok to clip a goalie.
It's ok to slash a stick under the roof.
Let's let the Sharks dance cancan on their bench so they can block pucks with their legs hanging over the boards.

I swear there was a sequence were two Jets players were tripped 5 seconds apart in the corner. No whistle. Embarassing if these are the best Refs NA has to offer.

I find it difficult to believe the refs were THIS bad. I think they felt for San Jose with the whole Covid situation. Embarrassing officiating, terrible Jets effort all-in-all.

you're just not understanding what you see in the benefits of losing most games. it prepares them for losing later in the playoffs if they make it. let paurice explain it to you during one his monologues

Oh, and they saw it - or they wouldn't have bothered discussing it.
One of them brought it back to the huddle and was over ridden -
You have to wonder how that works - at least one of them saw 6 or 7 guys but the rest disagree.
Can't review / replay penalties but in the case of too many men and the refs all count differently, they should make an exception.

You forgot about the 8th guy in net maybe we missed that rule change too ... if there is an even number of players on the ice there is no penalty.
It weird why they never showed the replay.

Ok, that is by far the worst officiating I have ever witnessed in any sport, bar none...leagues beyond second place...

There was literally a 7 man too many men over on the ice...amongst many non calls or missed completely calls.
Regardless of outcome, that was pure diarrhea.
