Peng believes that Hagel and Mass helped out at summer camp. Wonders if they will be McCarthy's assistants.

Hagel was just announced to be leaving Seattle for an undisclosed job, so almost certainly is joining them.

Lizz's unbridled enthusiasm is always fun

Also, I really like McCarthy's philosophy as a coach and what he keyed into with these guys. I like that he's looking for guys who are good communicators and understand how to teach what they're preaching.

There are so many questions that there aren't answers to (for us) still at the moment. It's a weird point in time to be a fan of this team.

-What's the schedule at the new place going to be like (Fewer Wednesday night games that nobody attends, please)?
-Relatedly, who is even in our division now? Make it official.
-Are there more player additions coming, specifically on defense? Because so far all we've done is brought back the worst defense in the league. Maybe the coaching change will help, but that's a concern on my end.
-New logo?
-We still only have one jersey unveiled, what exactly are we wearing?
-What's the live experience going to be like? New arena, hopefully better atmosphere. New host, too, probably.

We finally have an answer on who our coaching staff is (though, don't we still need a goalie coach?) but no idea how we're going to play under them, obviously. There's no reference for how a John McCarthy-led team plays.

It's exciting, though. Anticipating opening night here more than I have in years.

Playoff notes:
The playoff field will include the top six finishers in the eight-team Atlantic Division, the top five finishers each in the seven-team North and Central Divisions, and the top seven teams in the 10-team Pacific Division. First Round match-ups will be best-of-three series; the two highest seeds in the Atlantic, the three highest seeds in each of the North and Central, and the first-place team in the Pacific will receive byes into the best-of-five Division Semifinals, with the First Round winners re-seeded in each division. The Division Finals will also be best-of-five series, followed by best-of-seven Conference Finals and a best-of-seven Calder Cup Finals series.

Until they have four division's of 8 teams each, that might be the status quo.

Yeah, and it seems like there should be an easy fix: Two of Colorado, Henderson and Tucson to the Central, someone like Grand Rapids to the North. Feels like they could solve this if they wanted to, but this might just be what the league looks like going forward.
