So we are back to underrating him?

Those lists have multiple ridiculous names ahead of him

Edit, and even with calling him a point per game player you are underrating him. He’s clearly a +ppg player

80 in 73
78 in 68
88 in 67

With a career high of 96
No hes not, hes actually less than a career ppg player at 0.964

711 points in 737 games is a point per game player, not like that is a slight by any means, that's incredibly consistent while also providing some of the best defensive play for a forward in the game.

80 points in 73 games with Selke
78 points in 68 games
88 points in 67 games

The last 3 years, 96 point career high but sure he’s not a +ppg player today

What does his start have anything to do with him ranked today?

Those rankings where all from and for this season where he was a proven +ppg player while being the best defensive forward in the league

Yet he’s ranked in one of the list and at 19.

So it’s clearly very obvious he gets underrated regularly.

Miami, Fl
I do not consider click-bait media nonsense to be an accurate reflection of knowledgeable hockey fans. Florida is not the same as Toronto for hockey coverage, so those outlets are going to pander to their audience, hence Barkov gets left off a lot of those lists.

KNOWLEDGEABLE fans see he's a top 10-15 player in the game, but any higher than that is just overcompensating for the lack of love he gets from clueless media.
Lmaoooooo the same peeps sayin “do not say he is underrated anymore” are the first to underrate him in that same breath “he’s like a top 15 player” as if they have the pulse on Barkov’s impact, this is a cycle that never ends. I love that perception of authority too bro lmao

Why are you yelling in your posts, that’s 3-4 times lol

Do the kids today actually watch the games, or just look at plus minus.?
SO I CAN BE SEEN

KIDS?

And what better metric to measure defensive capabilities! (when it fits my narrative)

I admit I am unfairly focusing on that guy who said Barkov > McDavid and Oilers fans are going to understand the legend of Barkov

That's magical thinking lol
The narrative may be heavily influenced by how much the refs let Florida get away with. In the previous series, probably lore so the TB and Rangers, it seemed like the panthers were allowed an egregious amount of holding, picking etc. multiple times Ekblad for instance skated wayyyyy off line to interfere with no call. If they’re allowed that kind of latitude it will impact the oilers ability to create offense. If the refs call it tight, I think it will still be tough on Edmonton but they’ll have a fighting chance.

Thats usually how it always goes. Then there is the X factor of players doing stupid stuff that gets "let go", you got trouba throwing chicken wings out there, bennet knocking someone out for a couple games with a blatant punch to the head nothing called.

I did not say he said he was the same as Eriksson. Pointless.
You said it was a comparison to Eriksson. It wasn't. It was a comparison of how people just call a player underrated for years on end, with no awareness that perhaps they do, actually, highly rate the player.

Then why does it so rarely shift into rankings and where he’s ranked?
He was nearly a unanimous Selke winner. I think people know/agree he's the best two-way forward in the league.

That’s not what I asked

If he is properly rated why is it so hard for him to crack top25 lists?

All those lists have ridiculous names ahead of him and it keeps happening, even while and after having a dominant regular season..

Because most listicle articles are dumb clickbaity things for cheap content. And they're going to be Canadian-forward (especially from TSN/SN) because Canadians will largely drive the clicks.

People just put legitimate awards votes toward him and he was essentially a unanimous winner. Yes, it answers your question. People think he's fantastic.

Well to be fair, those lists were from just prior to season, November and January.

but he did make an end of season list.

In Selke race yes, it’s a very marginal competition/award

But you are ignoring everything else

Even in the middle of a dominating season he was having a hard time cracking top25 list of players

After his dominant season he ranked 19th best player entering playoffs

You are ignoring everything else and focusing on 1 marginal trophy in relation to bigger picture.
Selke is not a Hart/MVP trophy

All those articles tell you Barkov is still underrated

Well to be fair, those lists were from just prior to season, November and January.

but he did make an end of season list.

It’s from the start of the season to end and the highest he ranks is 19th when half the teams are out of the picture..
