He's incredibly over rated. He's the perfect hipster pick, people pick him to make them look smart more than anything else. In reality, he is in the same tier as a few other elite shutdown centers like Matthews and Kopitar.

My issue is not in saying he is elite defensively, it's in how people exaggerate his abilities. "Shutting down" stars has a lot more to do with Bobrovsky being the better goalie in all of the series they have played

Matthews can’t even hold Barkov’s jockstrap defensively lmao.

I honestly think it will be a very intriguing matchup. I have no idea who will have the edge between Barkov and McDavid.

But I also think, just because Barkov could shut down...

doesn't mean he'll be nearly as effective at doing so against the best offensive player in the league. McDavid is capable of otherworldly things at times.

Just as Barkov will be a unique challenge for McDavid, McDavid will be a unique challenge for Barkov.

It's going to be very fun to watch!
