Barkov goes God-mode in OT

The thing about this shift that goes underappreciated is that Barkov had been on the ice 1min before this sequence. He had been in his own end defending and then lets all his teammates change while, as tired as he probably was, still is capable of doing this.

Barkov defends in his own zone, steals the puck twice, dangles a few guys while his team changes, draws a penalty, and then wins the game in OT with an absolute snipe.

And people are saying he “didn’t do much” and this isn’t thread worthy? Why do you even watch hockey if you can’t appreciate a play like this? Lol

Watched enough hockey to see that stuff like this happens pretty routinely. Might be a worthwhile talking point if it was done by a new prospect or a 4th liner journeyman who just returned from a lengthy injury or something, but this pretty much just is a thread about Barkov being good, and everyone going "yeah, he sure is."

Can I just take this oppurtunity to once again state how much I hate it when broadcasts do random closeups while the f***in play is ongoing. No one needs to see a zoom in on Bob’s nostrils, while the puck is in movement and f***in plays are going on.

Every damn game you miss chunks of play cause the NHL thinks they are Martin Scorsese.
Exactly. What the hell was that...

Watch some more hockey and hopefully you'll keep learning more about the game.

Just in: Barkov is amazing, some people would rather bitch about football and camera angles, others say this type of thing happens all the time…and Oil fans ain’t over it yet.

I was expecting that clip to go on for like 2 mins after reading the thread title .. bizzare thread.

Yes Barkov is unreal but I see hard work like this happen from many different players always

An absolute boss shift by Barkov. To say it was nothing much is just moronic. Not surprised though as hockey knowledge is notoriously not a requirement round 'ere.

Every player on both teams and their coaching staff knew they got to witness greatness.

he did a whole lot of nothing there
stole the puck , drew a penalty, then scored winner the powerplay.

But the thread title was pure hyperbowl......which actually follows suit in today's NHL.

The best hockey game this week end with be pre tournament juniors Canada vs Sweden.

Yes, I complain about this all the time. Also, the weird angles they switch to where you can't f***ing see SHIT. I think this is a case of the TV guys feeling like they need to justify their employment, which is sad. Just show me the damn game and not the goalie or some rando on the bench.

It feels like the AI would be operating the camera, so random

The clip did not match the thread title. Barkov steals the puck and draws a penalty.

The title made it seem like he would beat the defenders and score... or at least get a shot on goal.

Not really threadworthy.
Leafs starting their third string goalie was thread worthy though

Barkov and his line mates were totally hemmed in for ~2 minutes while Bob was bailing them out, they were all wiped out and needed a change. He worked the puck back in the neutral zone to get his tired teammates off the ice, got possession, juked a guy, and drew a penalty off of it. All after being stuck in his own zone for half of OT.

Oh, and then he scored the winner.

People saying it wasn’t impressive are salty as hell

When the Leafs learn defense i'm sure they'll finally succeed.

The video showed almost 10% of that. That's why people are not understanding what fully happened until it was explained

The whole clip

More than a whole lot of nothing. After being out there for @ 1:45 he was able to DIG IN force the turnover, control the puck while his line mates got off the ice, drew a penalty, and then scored the GWG on the ensuing power play.

Incredible performance, you could see his teammates were blown away at the buzzer.

There was nothing routine about that shift at all, man.

The full clip does go on for over 2 minutes. OP chose a poor clip to add in the first comment.
