Well there goes that idea of trading Hawery for Luchanko. Hawery is starting to come around.

Maybe we can trade Noah Read and pieces for Luchanko lol! I’m kidding of course.
Hawery needs mins this season. Look what he can do!

Hawery is going to be a special player.
Sarnia #72 will want to forget this game (losing end of a fight, takes penalties, gets burned by Montgomery)... that's gotta "hurt".
Montgomery continues to impress.
In 3 weeks, what becomes of Spencer and Fagan?
Our D at that point will include:
Bonk, Dickinson, Allen, Woolley, Brzus, and Fimis.
Nichol...has yet to return.

Haven't seen a Kaeden Johnston update in a while. He's currently at 14 points in 31 games, after getting 8 points in 4 pre-season games for London

Since November 1st he's got 1 goal and 4 assists. If you exclude November 2nd's game he's got 2 assists in that time frame.

I know a few people were upset about the trade...

He's not long for Sarnia either.

Soft as soft can be. Been healthy scratched a bunch lately.

Mark did great as usual in that trade.

Hope Nicholl is OK. That was a nasty cross check
gif_1734750377305.gif

Was definitely a cross check but not a ton of force behind it at all from Hurt. U see that kind of check constantly. Must've got him in a really bad spot.

Hopefully he's alright. Never like seeing players go off in serious pain/distress.

I’ve seen the video a few times now, I am wondering if he got him in the rib? I wasn’t at the game to see what Nichol was favouring, they said shoulder on broadcast. But the video looks like rib maybe? Just speculating.

It’s amazing how the team could win their last two games by the same 6-1 score with all the players out. The preparation by the coaches is second to none and the execution by the players is something they should all be proud of. A pleasure to watch. And really nice to see Hawery’s breakout the last few games. Merry Christmas all and look forward to the second half of the season

Patience. It will happen. He bagged a couple tonight, yup........ but "slow is steady, steady is fast"

Reminds me of RThomas trajectory ( i went on about him alot rookie season but also knew how the staff felt about him, and the back story, but he had to earn it)
No I'm not comparing the players styles here....Just that as a rookie ( Hawery) IMO he is going to force his way into regular minutes on 3/4 line on a good team instead of the shuffling/sitting/ jrB assigned rooks path we often see the last 5+ years .
JMO, but if Hawery is still here after the deadline you'll see a RThomas type ascention into top 6 next year and a top F in league 3rd year.

Yes.. it was Erie.. it was also without the top four players on the team. "Memorial Cup or bust" sounds more like a spoiled Knights fan than someone who recognizes the Knights have the horses to win now without mortgaging the future.
“Mortgaging the future” - you did see all the picks just given up for one dman right? Knights will be fine moving forward, but yes it’s Memorial cup or bust. Shocking you don’t understand that.

Picks can easily be recouped. Talented players cannot. There was a post earlier equating Hawreys development to that of Evangelista. Hawrey is actually further along at this stage. Adding more at this point will not push the needle any further this season and will hurt for next season. The Knights have rarely been a "this season only" team.. and when they have been it's come with zero success.

This team is so deep at forward that adding Luchanko has some major diminishing returns compared to adding Allen. Our 4th line when going down the list for points among forwards is Nurmi-Read-Van Bommell, which could easily be a weak second line or an elite 3rd line on most teams in the league.

Before Haltunnen was returned and Blake Montgomery arrived, a case could have been made. We have forwards that fit every role at this point and when you think about the probability of winning the OHL/Memorial Cup with the current roster versus adding Luchanko, it's not going to be a major change. Luchanko wouldn't be on the first powerplay unit (already have 5 elite players that he won't bump off). We already have 4 strong PK forwards (Cowan, Barkey, O'Reilly, Sim), so he isn't a big help there. Faceoffs, he's a 52% which is good, but it's not like he's at 60%, so again, not a stepwise addition.

I think with Allen, this team top-to-bottom is a much stronger than last year's roster which went to the Memorial Cup final. Retaining Hawrey would make competing in the coming 3 years a possibility. I get the allure of adding Luchanko, and I wouldn't be that upset is Mark does so (nor do I begrudge the people that believe it's the right move), but I think this team is near perfect already.

I will be shocked if Hawrey was moved. I assume he has a NTC ? Why on earth would he waive it as it's clear he is a very key component, maybe the most important component of future Knights teams.

I'll have updated numbers later, but 52% is actually below the team average.

Elliott now #1 in the O with GAA of 2.11 and record of 14-0.
But according to one poster who follows an Eastern team... Elliott sucks...
