Jerts did not show up for the full 60...or 40...closer to like 10-12 minutes and I blame them for the loss.

However were all the NHL, AHL, ECHL refs in COVID protocol?
Where in futt buck nowhere did they dig these refs out of...the Edmonton Lasik intake waiting room?!?
Definitely kept us from actually gaining any momentum.
No call on the headshot on KVes and spearing to Conners Chicken Nuggets were a couple standouts amongst others.

If I was Chevy and the Jets, I'd seriously think about hiring Finland's head coach that has coached his team to the final tonight at the Olympics. The have only allowed 1 goal against per game, and are in the final tonight vs Russia. There's a good chance they will win this game. I like Finland's hockey program that has produced some excellent NHL hockey players.

It's about time we gave a European coach a shot, and I think we'd be surprised and very happy with the results. Also we wouldn't have to pay $4-6 Mil per year to get him. I don't think Dave Lowry will cut it, but he's done not a bad job, considering he's missing a lot of key players.

Meh. We were never going to win every game.

Seemed like a strong commitment to team defence today. Unfortunately our feet weren't moving as quickly as the Oilers for most of the game. Somewhat understandable with our recent schedule.

At least we made it a game. If Hellebuck closes the five hole on that third one, we go to OT.

Jets really miss that big shot from the point on the pp. Chevy needs to find that guy.

I'm not as down on the bottom 6 as most on here. It's about finding roles for these guys. Lowry is a big physical checking C, why doesn't he have wingers that compliment that style of play.

What is the role of the 4th line? I have no clue and neither does the coach.

Is 55 a centre or a winger? If he's the offensive play driver than get him some wingers who can drive play and score.

Dubois is the offensive version of Lowry, get him some wingers who play like him.

This team looks like they are just throwing shit at the wall and seeing what sticks.

Really well said. I've been thinking that for a while. Laine and Buff used to be threats from the point and it opened up the bumper play. Now all we have is the bumper play and our opponents know it.

Fire Huddy or someone. What a soft organization. 10 plus years and only one coach fired and the other “resigned”. And swapped a coach with with the Moose.

Definitely also need a leadership change in the dressing room. Tired of the excuses game after game.

As @sipowicz stated to have only 4 page post game thread so far after an afternoon long weekend game, against Coilers no less, is concerning.

team general interest is waining and the “Normies” are not interest nearly as much currently.

this has go to be concerning to the Chipmans for big picture.

Yes, I’m sure low turnout in HFJETS post game threads are of major concern to Chipman. Assuming he’s knows they exist at all that is.

This schedule due to the make up games was always going to be incredibly challenging. It's why playing your core forwards 20 plus minutes a game constantly wasn't a good idea.

Had the team taken care if things earlier you could excuse off games every now and then during this stretch. But as it is they have left themselves very little if any room for error.

To some degree, it could be an indicator of over all sentiment though - but yea, I doubt the boys are paying much attention to this board.
I do think the Jets are concerned with team issues - probably goes without saying.

I think the low turnout here might also be due to busy weekends and family schedules that take precedence over commenting on hockey. For some of us, by the time we get around to reading these boards other folks have posted all the pertinent comments and there's nothing of importance to add. This is especially true of matinees.

I have to admit though that I was fascinated by the lengthy discussions on here about snow shovels and clearing driveways. Yet another world (from surely thousands of others) about which I was completely innocent.

The Jets give a crap meter for the first 50 minutes. Yup, it was in the negative...

Lowry with an ace PK goal just gave the team 10 minutes of hope when really there was none. And don't blame the refs for this... they even gave us a 5 on 3 when we were down 1-0. It's not the refs fault the Jets only managed 1 shot on the 5 on 3.

One of the Oilers philosophical changes with Woodcroft was to stop playing the bags off of Draisaitl and McDavid, and roll 4 lines. I think we need to get a couple of forwards back before we go there but in this schedule, if Lowry is hell bent on overplaying the Schiefele and Dubois lines, we're simply going to have a lot of these games where our top performers are tired, and we aren't going to be able to win enough to make the playoffs.

With Copp, Ehlers and Perfetti back in the lineup (and mabye Gus) there is no reason why we can't have 3 scoring lines and a more even distribution of minutes:

81-80-71 (or 87)
27-55-26
91-25-87 (or 71)
9-17-77 (or 12 or 93)

Extras: 19, 22, 21

Three scoring lines, one checking line, and a bunch of interchangeables based on performance. If any of 12, 87, 71, 93, or 19 don't bust their ass or are struggling, swap someone else in. That will build competition and hopefully get some of these guys going

We could be by all intents and purposes out of the playoff picture in one week. Games against the red hot Flames, a Stars team we're fighting with, the best in class Avs, and what SHOULD be a gimme against the Coyotes. If we don't go 3-1 I think we don't really have a shot.
