Lots of confusion between mature hairline and baldness, a formin widows peak means nothing if the rest of your hair is thick, the signs to look for is when the hair is thinning in the temple, like shattenkirk and Kane, Matthews just have a high hairline

I can see it being AM34, Willy would be a tragedy.

Ryan Getzlaf's hair loss was just ridiculous.

Some people it goes really fast. Most of the time even for guys who start in the classic 18-28 period it’s a 10 year process at least. The general rule is the earlier it starts the worse it gets but there are some well known people who started late and went severely bald. Billy Joel and Peter Gabriel are two real good examples of that.

Luckily for both they had the necessary funicular ability to compensate for it by wearing beards.....:thumbu:

If Lindros can fix his hair they all can.

A bit creeper, but I googled Matthews hairline and found a pic of him when he was a kid. He's had the same hairline when he was a kid. He has a big forehead, but I dont think he's balding.
Exactly. I've never seen him as balding, just has a large forehead. Reminds me of a guy I know who has a similar hairline.

By that logic just about every baseball player would be then
To be fair, he said "Old School Barber".

Balding is mostly genetics but can be caused by poor diets, drugs, stress... even so, it comes back to genetics.

For example, a dude might take steroids and speed bald, while the next dude can take the same thing and not be affected.

Sammy B is definitely losing it all. That being said, it's not an exact science, my old man had a widows peak by his mid 20s and his hair line has stayed the same since. My father in law is even worst, his hair thinned to nearly bald in his early 30s and hasn't changed any in 30 years now, he's mastered the combover.

Hats and helmets? Na, I'm sure it can speed up the process, but my grandpa wore a hat everyday of his adult life, and he passed away with a full thick head of curly hair.

Chronic alcohol abuse does lower your testosterone levels, which could theoretically reduce the effect of DHT on the follicles of men who have a sensitivity to it. I don't know if this is actually the case, but if there is a link between these drunks and their hair density, that's my guess as to why it would be the case.
Patrick Kane debunks this myth

Add Brian Boyle to the mix. He's starting to thin at the sides just a little bit but that's honestly to be expected at the age of 33. It's doubtful he loses all his hair, just a decent amount of density by the time he's middle aged enough to where he won't need a comb over but you'll be able to see some scalp. It's likely the same will happen with Stamkos

it's all genetics

Was actually talking about this with my girlfriend yesterday. I could have swore someone posted a picture of a Stamkos before and after where he had hair transplants done, (allegedly) but for the life of me now, I can't find it.

Damn I thought Getzlaf would have ran away with this thread. Did he finally start shaving that dome? He's clinging on to hope. I did the same thing up until my second deployment in 2010 (I was 24 at that point) when I finally said f*** it lol.

it speeds it up. it won't be the actual cause though. that's genetics baby.
It doesnt speed it up, if you lose hair because of male pattern baldness its because the hair follicles dies. That happens under your skin.
Hair loss is genetic and can go from both sides and you can lose hair at 20 even if no one else in your family did so. Its still genetics but you got "unlucky".
