Kessel is losing his hair and trying to cover it by letting it grow to comb it over

cut.jpeg

Poor guy, people have made fun of his appearance so many times and now he's losing his hair.

I agree it's a myth, but like myself have noticed, once you start losing your hair it just seems to come out with a brush of the hand. I know it's hormone crap that starts it but I wonder if once it starts, if wearing a hat has anything to do with how quick it falls out? I say this as I'm wearing a hat.. inside haha
I feel like people that are going or are bald and don't like it just wear hats more often

I'm sure some people do but I started losing my hair in my 20s and purposely avoided wearing hats because I didn't want to come off as one of those people. The hair fell out just the same. The guy above that keeps saying genetics is right: it's just genetics.

Guy has millions of dollars, two Stanley cup rings (both of which he was an important part of), has played in the Olympics and world juniors and has been a star in the best league in the world for over a decade.

I would take his like in a heartbeat regardless of what he looks like.

Thats what i figured but I also assumed people with a bald spot may like hats more

Hats almost never cause hair loss, unless you wear one constantly and it is way too tight. This is called traction alopecia, for example if you wear your hair tightly pulled back it will start falling out. But if you stop the hair will grow back unless you've worn your hair that way for a very long time. Androgenetic alopecia aka male pattern baldness has no cure short of drastic measures (think castration).

There are quite a lot of famous celebrities with hair transplants some are excellent you would never know. Tom Hanks has had extensive work, it doesn't look 100% natural to me. Steve Yzerman had a procedure it looks a little bit odd. Eddie Olczyk went under the knife his work looks great but he was mostly balding on the crown.

Patrick Kane needs to get ahold of Lindros and ask him how lol

He probably saw tons of local tv comercials with Ed Olczyk, Ryne Sandberg, and Brian Urlacher demonstrating hair restoration procedures already. I probably see one of those at least 3 times a week and Olcyzk I feel has mentioned the hair restore place every Hawks game:laugh:

Just gotta buzz it short or shave it.

Considering these guys are all wealthy, they can all afford a transplant or something. I would assume most just don't care.

I don't think he needs anyone feeling badly for him.

Kessel is a wealthy pro hockey player that just won b2b cups and has a smoking g/f, so while I'm sure he isn't thrilled about his hair, he's doing better than most 30 year olds who are follically challenged.

22 and balding myself so you can add me to the list even thought I dont play in the NHL.

Must suck for people to go bald in their 20's.

Definitely sucks at first but within a couple months I'd say a good amount of people get over it pretty quick.

If Lindros can fix his hair they all can.

To be fair, his hair is wet in the first pic and shorter. In the second pic it just looks longer and ticker. Maybe he used Rogaine or got a transplant. But I don't think his hairline looks that much different.

Lindros was so alpha though he didn't need hair.

This is exactly what happened to my uncle. I have 4 uncles who are brothers and the only one who has lost any substantial amount of hair to the point of saying "wow he's bald" is the one who has been wearing a pony tail since the 80's. To that degree his hairline is a similar to Phil Kessel. They're all over 55 and as opposed to one bald brother, the other 3 just have a very slightly receding hairline. The 2 oldest are in their 70's and just have lost thickness and density due to age as opposed to outright balding.

Genetics is key, but environmental factors can accelerate hair growth dramatically. Specifically taking PEDs, which elevate DHT and Testosterone levels, can dramatically increase the rate at which male pattern baldness occurs. If you were a guy who was meant to go bald in his 40s, taking PEDs might cause you to go bald right away.

Someone said it earlier. A lot of these guys could get a hair transplant if they wanted to, especially the young guys (you can only do so much though, they use your hair from the sides and put it on top, if you're full cul-da-sac then you're probably SOL). They're choosing not to.

If you can pull off the bald look then it's like hitting the jackpot. If you can't it's a nightmare.

I actually check each day to see if this thread is still running...

I, post 40, have hair, but many of my brethren don't, and is a actually a major issue for many.

I don't feel bad for guys making 7 mil a year as much, but it becomes a huge issue for most guys...

Schwartz balding at 24. Shatty tried to hide it for the longest time. Finally shaved it before the season
