You need to have your hair loss stop to have a normal looking transplant and unfortunately for Bennett, it only works well if you have hair left on the top cause you basically take hair follicles from the sides (which doesn't usually fall out) and transplant them to where you have hair loss. If you have hair loss all over you're kinda SOL.

If you look at Rooney now, yes his hairline has been restored but the thinning isn't stopping and eventually he'll just have to shave it anyway:

Well, thank you for all this information. I bet Mike Commodore laughs at the idea of a hair transplant.

Poor Kevin Shattenkirk. He's got the old man bald spot on the top of his head.

I also hope that myth about hats causing baldness is not true(myth does not necessarily mean untrue) because I wear a hat pretty much any time I'm not working. I have since I was probably 10.

Yep. Yep. Summer thread.

Who's likely getting the Getzlaf treatment soon?

Matthews' hairline looks bad.

Cam Fowler too.

Matthews will take on his Grandfather's (mother's side) hair trait. Anyone have pics of Matthews grandad?

The bros I know who started balding in their 20s, particularly the guys who just said **** it and decided to shave it right down and bic it with shaving cream and a razor regularly seemed to crush it.

No problems with the ladies, to a man they come across confident and self-aware which is always a trait people like. Pretty common for hockey and football players to experience hair loss having worn helmets throughout their lives. Just own it :). Alphas will be alphas.

Yea pretty much nailed it! You have to own it and the entire Bic the head movement was a brilliant strategy and it did make the boys look really confident.

Patrik Laine will be the youngest bald player

I don't know, Pierre-Marc Bouchard was shaving his head early in his career. The earliest bald pic I can find of him was from 2008, which would have made him around 24

You knew on his draft day that his hair didn't stand a chance

Being someone that has played ice hockey since I was 3yrs old, I am bald and no one else in my family is. Yet my fiance thinks there's no correlation.

evolution. what need do humans have for hair? money is the new symbol of virility.

Getzlaf is a curious case. He started balding in his early 20's, yet his older brother Chris has a full head of hair..

It's really not that odd. My brother started balding at around 20 or so and, in my 30s, I show no signs of even a receding hairline.

Whether someone will lose their hair isn't strictly determined by genetics. For all the scientific proof for baldness being a genetic trait passed through the X chromosome (i.e., on the mother's side), it's more complicated that that. Here's a stupid article for those interested: http://health.usnews.com/health-new.../what-causes-hair-loss-9-myths-about-baldness.

According to my very old school barber, a lot of times baldness is caused by wearing hats/helmets on a regular basis.

True, partly substantiated.

I had a thick head of hair in 2013, but got jobs in 2014-present that required you to wear a hat. I also have a bad habit of pulling my hair out. It used to grow back, now it's definitely thinning out.

Hats + summer = male pattern baldness

EDIT; ^ guy above me says it's passed on the mother's side. TFW my dad has great hair, and I have my mom's ****** bald, curly ****ing hair. HAHAHAHAHA I hate my life.

It's not necessarily passed on the mother's side. Apologies, that was what I meant to communicate. Numerous other genetic and environmental issues are involved, and the science isn't conclusive on one cause of balding.

This thread is prejudice against balding people. What's the point other than to make fun of or point the finger at people with a genetic predisposition?
