If it was two of anyone other than Martin/Moreno from our top-8 I would have been skeptical. Adding Martin is just a crushing blow to something that should have made us over the f***ing moon.

If this is how the game is being played then they better not bitch out and be ready to add more. Either via trade or offseason acquisition.

This is essentially announcing the window is now open. So you better actually work to keep it open

There’s gotta be something else coming back right?? As it was mentioned, I was soooo stoked for the Jays to be back home and then I see Austin Martin was involved in a trade and the Jays still lost the trade.

I think for me the scariest part is we still have holes in the bullpen and at 3B..

But with emptying 2 prime trade pieces in one trade, when no one else has done anything similar - you're now looking at the ask being Groshans, Orelvis and/or Moreno for any other trade we make and that's just unfathomable.

The bright side is that Berrios is great, and has another year of control. He may also re-sign at the age of 28. The not so bright side is that this is significantly more than what the Dodgers traded for Scherzer AND Turner.

Very, very surprising. This is the type of move that seems to go against the blueprint Shapiro and Atkins have laid out.

I know I've wanted them to be more ballsy in trades. Just didn't expect them to overpay in young prospect capital like they just did in a year that isn't one to go all in for.

we wanted a big move. heres a big move. 95% of us knew if they did one it was going to be a ugly price. but we got a nice right hander to put between ryu and ray now that will be around this season and next.

Even if both SWR and Martin have genuine concerns (many prospects do) you would still think they could get more value back for them than 1.5 years of Berrios. This is nothing against Berrios, he is a good pitcher, but he is not the ace he was just valued at. I can't believe the Dodgers arguably paid less for both Scherzer and Turner. This just doesn't seem to align with what this front office has been trying to do since taking over the team. I just can't wrap my head around it.

I guess we have Bo and Vladdy gooefully for another 10 years. Maybe they legitimately see Groshans to be better long term than Martin? Groshans certainly more likely 3B than Martin and both can play SS.

The front office must be totally convinced they can resign this guy to a longterm contract or I just dont understand this seeing what other teams have given up in the past few days.

Groshans, Bo, Vlad, Orelvis, Moreno. Groshans, Bo, Vlad, Orelvis, Moreno. Groshans, Bo, Vlad, Orelvis, Moreno. Just reminding myself.

At this point, I'd trade Kirk for something too then and if you can get Gomes/Jansen for playoffs that helps too.

Kirk for a reliever?
